Elena tried to squeek out the answer but wasn't forming anything. Lann glancec back at Forcroff, "I'll take that as a yes," he spun around and dissappeared.

Forcroff looked around frantically, but Lann was no where to be found. Lann appeared beside him and removed the arm the arm that held Elena with a quick slash of his sword.

Elena fell to the floor along with Forcroff's limb. Lann quickly vanished again and Forcroff leaped at Elena again.

He hit the floor just in front of her with the hilt of Lann's sword sticking out of his gut.

Lann stood beside Elena and helped her to her feet. Forcroff looked at Lann and saw him for who he really was. "It was you," he murmured as he hit the ground.

Elena coughed and breathed quickly, now that the opening for her air was back open. She put a hand to her stomach protectively as Lann helped her up.

"I don't understand..." she whispered as she looked at Forcroff's dead body. "Why would he do it? He spoke of only protecting me..."

"Well... He is... was a demon," he said looking at Forcroff's dead body, "You never can trust their kind."

Lann now had one less demon to worry about. The more he killed before the birth of Gargon the more he could concentrate on him. Everything would come together in time he supposed.

He took Elena by the hand and led her down the hall, lighting the way as they went.

Elena rubbed her sore throat as they walked down the hall. "I didn't think demon's were so double-crossing..." she whispered as he led her down the brightening hall.

"Next thing I know Airis will be trying to kill me again," she muttered. "Then the little boy... I hope Airen won't turn evil again..." And it was then that she realized she was talking outloud. "Oh... sorry..."

"Airen..." Lann mused, " Airen has tried to hurt you before?"

He stopped in the hallway. Airen had hurt her before. This could work to his advantage. All he had to do is find out what power could control Airen.

Elena sighed. "I don't think he knew what he was doing..." she said softly, brushing a strand of curly hair behind her ear. "He was the one who turned me over to Airis the first time I met him... He had been out all night and when he came back he was different. I don't know what they did to him..."

Lann nodded. "Really... I can't belive he would be so weak as to let something or someone control him to where he could hurt you."

He brushed a piece of her hair back from her face. "I don't see how anyone could hurt something so beautiful." He gave her a kind, sincere smile.

Elena's cheeks turned rose and she lowered her head sheepishly. "I'm sure whatever it was had to be prowerful..." she said, trying to stand up for Airen as much as she could.

"He couldn't help it I'm sure..."

"Well... think what you like about your dear husband," he said, "I'm sure you'll find in time that he is not as trustworthy as you may think."

He began walking again and soon they came to a great door. "Are you ready to eat?" he asked.

Elena looked at Lann in a confused manner, stopping in her tracks for a moment. She narrowed her violet eyes on him before starting to walk again.

"Why do you say that?" she asked, her voice altering a bit to a confused and suspicious tone. "Airen has never gave me cause to think him untrustworthy..."

"Well, I'm just saying... I can see things others can't see." he said, "and make people see what I want them to see."

The lights went dark. They brightened again and Lann had become Airis. He then waved his hands through the air and became Airen.

"See... I have an incredible gift." He knew that Airen would soon betray Elena and he would be there to show her Airen's betrayel.

Elena took a frightened step back. She bumped into the wall. She didn't really know what his true form was now. "What do you really look like?" she said softly. Gargon had the ability to change his appearance as well...

Lann laughed at her expression. "I am the man you saw when you first got here." He turned himself back into his true form.

"It is much to exhausting to walk around actinig and looking like someone I'm not." He was rather tall with dark hair and brown eyes. He had rather braod shoulders.

He smiled at Elena,"I would never decieve you."

Elena narrowed her eyes on him. How could she turst him? These people had kidnapped her and took her from her home, her husband. But, she still felt this uncontrolable urge to turst him.

Lann pushed open the double doors. There were three large tables. The two outside were occupied by demons and strange looking men and women.

Airis sat at the head of the middle table. To his right sat Damien and beside him sat Seryth. On Airis's left were two empty seats. Lann led Elena to the seat. He pulled her chair out for her and took his own seat next to Airis.

"Has anyone seen Forcroff?" Airis asked.

"I saw him a little bit ago and I don't think he will be joining us." Lann replied glancing over at Elena.
