Lore: Drakeshead Inn and Tavern

The Captial of Arken, it is the darkest known city in the world. As it is the capital and the home to the Witch Queen herself, it is a very dangerous place to enter. Home to the toughest and roughest crooks around.

Joe was right behind him walking out into the dark alley that was slowly beginning to light up with the light from the fires. Joe took of his coat and put it over Ora as they walked to keep her from getting a chill.

"Lead the way to this tavern..." Joe said, looking up and down the alley to make sure no one was there. "We need to hurry before anyone shows up and catches us back here..."

Daylan looked down at Ora's face, "So beautiful." he said softly, too soft to be heard by any but himself. He turned to look at Joe, "All right then." He adjusted the woman's prone body and began to head towards his tavern.

Joe looked back at him as they neared the taverns door. "How do you know her?" he asked, wondering that very much. But, how could he not. Ora was a kind woman and helped those inneed... maybe he met her through that?

Daylan pushed open the door to the tavern. "I know Ora because she's my employee. I own this tavern." He rested her gently on one of the darkwood tables, "You two should be safe here, at least for a while. I'll set out bribes with the right people."

Joe looked at Ora, sleeping on the table. He looked at the bruises on her face and the fact her clothing was so torn and disshoveled. "Thank you," Joe said. "I don't know how I'll repay you..."

He went to Ora and brushed the strands of black hair from her face. "Maybe those bribes will allow us to stay here... and allow me to continue my work..."

Daylan looked down at Ora, feeling his anger well up again but he soon calmed himself, "No payment is required. That felt... good." He lookedd at the door again, to make sure no one was entering.

"No. You two should leave. I will come with you if need be. Even with the bribes in place, this city is just going to get more dangerous." Besides, he didn't want that man endangering Ora's life again.

Joe pulled his cloak around his sister in a protective sort of way. "Maybe it is time I left... I don't want her hurt again... and it is only a matter of time before they catch me smuggling others. Ora is a wonderful woman... she doesn't diserve the life she had at Havick's..." Joe said softly.

"I don't know if you want to come with us... You have such a nice place here... But, I'm sure Ora would enjoy your company far more than mine. We don't agree on much... but I love her all the same..."

Joe looked around. "Do you have a room I could put her in to get her out of the open encase you have customers coming?" he asked before picking her up again.

Daylan lit a fire in the hearth and looked over to Joe. Good the man's resolve was broken. That had been suprisingly easy, though he supposed his sister had been attacked that night. "I can always get a new tavern. I don't like this city, I hate being stuck here. If you get us over the border, I might be able to find my family."

He moved behind the bar, getting a bottle of wine, "We should drink." he said, "For good luck. And leave her there, no one will be coming in, we're closed for now." he said as he locked the front door and closed the shutters on the window.

Joe didn't like leaving Ora out in the open, but he felt much more at ease once the shutters were closed and the door was locked.

He walked himself calmly towards Daylan's bar and took a seat at it, leaning on the top slightly with his body.

"I went home... I guess they had went there for me first. I think they were looking for me at least... It was horrible, they ripped and broke everything... and... I thought about what they would do to to Ora, so I ran to Havick's to try and stop them before they could... It seemed they beat me to that as well..." Joe could use a drink, but not for luck, more like to make all his thoughts go away...

Daylan listened to Joe's story for the little time it lasted, "Well it's good that you came anyway. I needed you there."

Daylan went behind the bar, revealing a massive bottle of rum. "We could use some drinks," he said with a smile as two shots glasses appeared after the bottle. He poured the rum and took his, "Cheers." he said before downing it.

Joe took the glass and downed the drink in one gulp. His eyes kept wondering back over to his sister, who's head rolled over, her eyes fluttering. Maybe she was coming to?

She however stayed still and didn't move after that.

It was then that Joe realized he was holding the glass so tight that his knuckles had turned white. "I could use another one of those," he said softly...

Daylan poured both of them another shot of rum , "I think we all could." he said as he took asmall sip. He followed Joe's eyes to his sister, "Don't worry, she'll be all right. I think she's just stunned." a hint of worry crept into his voice, but he did his best to conceal it.

Joe looked back at Ora. "Stunned?" he asked in a slight growl. "I wish she was only stunned... Who knows whats wrong with her. She might have a concusion or enternal bleeding... God... what am I saying... Ora always said I worry to much..."

"Thats because you do," her soft voice said from behind him. He turned around, gulping down his drink before standing up.

She was pushing herself to sit up and look at them, moving sorely. Her ripped blouse slipped off her shoulder slightly, but she didn't notice. She pushed her legs over the side of the table and slid off it, Joe running to catch her when she almost fell.

He helped her walk towards the bar and helped her into one of the chairs. Ora smiled weakly at Daylan. Black strands of hair falling in her face. "Thank you," she told him.

Daylan looked at the man, waiting out his tirade as he took another drink, "That might be true." he whispered, moments before Ora rose, "Or it might not be!" he said with a laugh. He rushed forward with Joe, simply standing by the other man's side.

He followed behind the two, telling himself to keep his eyes of any ripped clothing, "I only did what I thought was necesary. Your brother is to thank as well. We will be safe here, for now at least." he told them both, "But not for long. We need to get out of this city. All of us."

With a shaky hand Ora pulled the ripped top over her shoulder again, flushing slightly. "If you can drag my brother away from this place you will be a very lucky man to have around," she told him, her voice so soft it was almost a whisper. She looked tired, but it was to be expected from someone who had been beaten...

She shivered slightly, the air going through the rips in her clothing. Joe went back to the table and got her his cloak, draping it over her shoulders.

"I feel very dirty," she told them. "Like I rolled in the streets..."
