Laya sat in an old rocking chair with her legs curled under her. She leaned on a very unstable arm and used on foot, one that wasn't under her, to rock her back and forth as she listened to the soft rain fall and felt its gentle mist on her face.
She stared off into the darkness, wanting nothing more to go to sleep, but afraid to wake to fine Kron's arms wrapped around her and the fact that her freedom had been the first good dream she had had in a while.
Maybe she could keep dreaming. Maybe stay a sleep for the rest of her life. That would be nice. Just to dream this... Sitting on a porch with the howling wind and flashes of beautiful lightening to entertain her. Maybe even the unicorn? Visit him?
But, why should she, such a corrupt and dirty being ever try to bother a creature such as that.
"I think the weather might get worst..." she said more to herself than anyone... "I wonder where that person went... She was around front I believe..."

Kratos blinked out of his trance and looked at her. He wondered what she was talking about, but he didn't want it to seem like he was inturding on her thoughts... even if they were voiced.
Lighting cracked, and inside the house Neko jumped but she kept looking out the window into the storm. She could swear she was seeing something out there. A lone form wandering the streets in the harsh rain. Neko could just barely make out the dark form...

Laya looked out into the darkness and yawned. She was feeling rather tired now that she had gotten comfortable in a chair. She leaned her head back. She finally stood up. She walked into the house, going to find Maria to see where she would be able to sleep. She would just as soon take a couch.
"Mrs. Maria... Can you tell me where I can go to sleep? I'm not above sleeping on a couch," Laya said politely, her eyes downcast.
Finally after a few minutes Laya grabbed a blanket and curled up on the couch, her head resting on a pillow that was already there. It didn't take long before she was sleeping.

The following morning, Maria was the first to rise, wake up her children and send them off to school.
"Momma, I want to check up on Tessy and the others before I go!" Thomas pleaded as he was handed a lunch bag and herded out the door.
"Get off with ye! The cows will still be here when you return," she reprimanded and saw them out into the street. As soon as the door was closed, she turned back inside and frowned thoughtfully, knowing perfectly well that Tessy and her calf had almost certainly passed on during the course of the night. Her calm mother's expression quickly smoothed over her worry-creased face and she returned to the kitchen to begin cooking for her husband and their guests. She looked at Laya protectively as she passed the couch, lifting the blanket that had slid off of her in the night back onto her shoulders. They had found room for the other two guests in their small extra bedroom, though regrettably it contained only one bed. Hopefully whichever had slept on the floor wasn't too uncomfortable on the blankets she'd given them.
She was cutting up onions to make omelettes when a firm knock sounded at the door. She turned to answer it, but was beaten to the door by her husband, who was still pulling his shirt on as he swung it open. Another townsman holding a bow in one hand greeted him breathlessly.
"A sighting?" Fendir said knowingly.
"Near the creek in Ashren's Glenn."
"Gather the men. I'll prepare the horses. We should leave immediately."
"Understood."
Fendir closed the door and turned back toward Maria apologetically. "I'm sorry, but could you give my share to the guests?"
Maria looked disappointed, but understood. "Don't let it get away this time," she said, kissing him quickly as he left the room to retrieve his gear. A moment later he was out the door, slamming it loudly by accident in his haste.

Neko awoke with a start next to her brother. Kratos had slept on the floor and in the middle of the night Neko felt bad and snuggled onto the floor with him. He had unconciously put his arm around her in his sleep and now that she had bolted upright, he awoke as well.
"Ah--what?!" Kratos said startled and sleepily. Neko rubbed her eyes.
"I heard something loud." she mummbled then looked at her brother who turned beat red staring at her. "What?" Kratos jumped up to his feet.
"Neko!" he scolded but still red-faced. "That is very unlady like to be sleeping with a man!" Neko smirked then got to her feet.
"Who are you? Mom? and besides, your my brother... no harm done!"
'Yeah, to you...' Kratos thought grumpily.

She was running as fast as she could. But, when she looked back he seemed even closer. She breathed hard, running for so long. Then she felt a heavy weight nock her to the ground and role her over. He was on top of her and she couldn't move or get away. And then....
Laya rose with a loud gasp, her eyes opened wide and she looked around quickly to find with much relief that it had only been a dream. She heard voices coming from the other room.
"A sighting?"
"Near the creek in Ashren's Glenn."
Laya pushed the blanket off of her and she stood up, straighting her clothes that had become slightly balled up in the night.
They were going after him again.
Laya stepped into the room long enough to here the last bit of words that were said. She stared at them. She knew in her heart that they weren't evil men... but just miss-guided.
She jumped at the slamming of the door and her eyes widened before she relaxed again.

OOC: lol, its alright.
Laya walked out the door and towards the man saddling there horses and prepairing for a hunt. She walked to them with her same usual expression and heir about her. "Is it alright if I and my friends accompany you? If only so that I may see the creature alive once more?"
A soft breeze blew, rustling the fabrics of the dress she wore and the strands of brown hair against her cheek. Her eyes lead to now hint that she was lying, they were as sad and veiled as usual. If she must, she would gladly die to save the unicorn.... Maybe finally be rid of her pain.

Fendir looked at Laya thoughtfully as he cinched the girth of his horse's saddle. "Come if you will, but don't interfere in the hunt. There's a roan gelding in the last stall, and your friends' horse should be beside that-" he broke off as his wife rushed out to him and whispered something into his ear. She looked distraught, with the beginnings of tears in her eyes, but firmly maintaining her composure. He whispered something back to her and kissed her on the cheek, then turned her back to the house.
"This is something that needs to be done, before we have nothing left to lose," he said firmly as he turned back to Laya. "We're leaving in 3 minutes, so saddle up fast."

Laya nodded and walked into the house, opening the door to the room where the brother and sister were. "If you're coming with me get ready, we're leaving in five minutes," she said and left the room, heading out to the barn.
She through the saddle over the horses back and tightened the strap, pushing on his belly because he was pushing it out so the saddle would be loose.
She led the horse out towards the group, climbing up into the saddle.

Kratos and Neko turned to aya when she entered into their room and talked about leaving.
"When were we leaving?" Neko questioned to Laya's back as she left them, Neko had misunderstood. Kratos shurgged and sighed as he followed his sister out to the stables where Laya was..
OOC: sorry about the absence. My internet was down for awhile..damn Comcast.

Kratos and Neko tacked and mounted their horses quickly.
"Feh..." Neko muttered. "Curse or no curse on this village, I'll jump in their line of fire no matter what." she declared and trotted off to the group awaiting them. Kratos sighed in despair.
"My sister will forever make me go after her." he said and followed.

Laya nodded, not knowing if they knew what her plan was or not. It didn't matter. Neko didn't have any reason to die at such a young age... Laya had nothing. Neko had her brother. If anything she would be the one jumping into the line of fire.
She kicked her horse gently and rode towards the group... ready to finally end the pain.

As the three guests caught up to the rear of the line, Fandir gave the signal from the front and they all moved out at a quick pace, galloping through the woods along a well-worn path. They cleared a mile on the path quite quickly, then turned off onto a less well-marked route, riding more carefully among large trees whose branches often reached across the path - natural selection tests for those too unwary to duck.
The party trotted briskly across the mossy ground, their hooves relatively quiet. At length Fandir raised his hand and the party pulled back to a slow walk. They were very close to the site where the unicorn had been spotted that morning - a spring that was rarely visited by the townsfolk because it was so difficult to travel to. They approached in silence, stealthily approaching the spring from the downwind side. They finally arrived at the edge of a hill looking down over the spring, protected by cover of the brush. A silver form lay calmly at the bank of the spring, his neck stretched comfortably over a mossy rock. It was clear the creature was not aware of their presence.
Randir raised his hand and gave a signal to the three archers who were lined up in front. Very slowly and silently, they drew back their bowstrings and waited for the signal to fire.
