Lost
Re: Lost
Celeste looked off, but she recovered shortly and glanced at the key, the number six. Celeste smirked six, that was the number of children in her family. she walked to the door labeled 'six' and paused. she was strange in this land. Shaking her head she opened the door and walked in.

Re: Lost
He looked at the bed after lighting one of the candles. It was overstuffed with a flat pillow, but he wasn’t going to complain. He lit a fire in the small fireplace and pulled the coat off and tossed it into the corner. He shed his boots, and they still had a bit of sand left in them, and then he sat on the bed. He ran his hand through his hair as he laid back onto the bed and his thoughts drifted to Xheira, wondering if she was safe in this land of Light.

Re: Lost
Stephan closed his eyes and listened to the sound of the fire crackling. He was tired, but he couldn’t get his mind off of Xheira. He hadn’t seen her in a long time, and he heard she was in trouble. He was worried, but he know Xheira… she was a tough woman and could handle herself. Still…
Before Stephan could focus his thoughts on another topic, he was pulled into sleep.

Re: Lost
It was about a half hour before dawn when Caleb tiredly opened his eyes to the unfamiliar room. His amber eyes darkened for a moment as he looked up at the ceiling, but he buried the hopeless feeling of dread that washed through him, forcing his expression back to calm. This was something he'd need to get used to. He'd wrestled around in the night, and his 'borrowed' shirt had ridden up to the middle of his chest. He glanced at the twilight glow outside the window and groaned softly. He felt like he could use about 50 hours' more sleep, but hunger was tugging him awake. Maybe he could find something to eat before the sun rose.
He sat up and got out of bed, walking into the washroom. He turned on the tap and splashed cold water over his face and neck, looking at himself in the mirror. Strands of his long hair had escaped the tail at the back of his head, but there wasn't much point in fixing it now. Soon enough, he'd be trapped in the body of something else. He quickly looked away and left the room. Straightening his clothes, he let himself out into the hall, taking his key with him downstairs. A woman who he assumed was the inkeep's wife was standing behind the bar, cooking eggs and oatmeal over the stove while a few other guests sat eating.
"Is breakfast included?" he asked cautiously as he stepped up to the counter. The woman looked over at him, and her expression turned cold.
"You must be the one Felix told me about, from last night," she said with unfriendly eyes.
Caleb thought back on his conversation with the inkeep, and the man's reaction to his observation about the shoplifting 'regular'. He didn't feel shock at her reaction to him. Actually, this always seemed to happen when he talked to people. He paused, studying her, before giving an accepting nod and turning to go back upstairs.
The sound of a plate slamming onto the wood counter made him glance back. "It's included," the woman said, indicating the eggs, though she still didn't look comfortable with him. "Rooms are to be vacated by noon."
Caleb looked at the eggs, feeling oddly unhappy about them despite his hunger. "I'll be out at dawn," he said coolly, picking up the plate and carrying it toward the stairs.

Re: Lost
Caleb backtracked a step as someone bumped into him. He hadn't realized he'd spaced out, but apparently he had, because he didn't even see her coming. He glanced down at the culprit crossly. However, his expression changed slightly when he noticed her wings and her apology. He blinked and studied her, taking another step back. He'd never seen such a being before. He bit back his confusion and the strange impulse to talk to her as he remembered the coming sunlight. "You should pay attention. This isn't a safe town to go walking into people," he said flatly, beginning to walk around her.

Re: Lost
Caleb pressed his eyes shut in frustration as he continued up the stairs. Very smooth, snapping at someone who was just trying to apologize. He told himself it couldn't be helped and kept walking.
Re: Lost
Celeste walked out downstairs and the Innkeeper's wife looked at her "morning" Celeste said. the woman just stood there staring at her, like she was some alien.
"you down to eat?" she demanded, Celeste nodded. the woman turned and roughly sat a plate down in front of Celeste, who thanked her softly and looked at what was prepared. Eggs, and oatmeal, she was fine with the oatmeal, but wasn't with the eggs. The Innkeeper's wife looked at her "what is it not good enough?" she grunted.
"no, Milady, I don't eat eggs . . ." Celeste murmured.

Re: Lost
The woman turned a dark look on the angel. "Oh, so it's not enough just to cook breakfast on the house for this awful lot that comes through every morning, now I have to cater to the dietary needs of freaks?" she demanded. "So sorry my food doesn't meet your standards. My husband has a lot of nerve, letting you lot into our inn," she ranted.
Caleb stopped on the stairs and stared back in disbelief at what he was hearing. There was real malice in the woman's words. What happened to make this place to distrustful of outsiders? The girl didn't seem to mean any harm...
"Oh, the old lady's up in a fuss again," commented another guest who was approaching Caleb from further up the stairs. He'd heard the woman's raised voice all the way from the hallway. "Not a bad woman, at heart, but she's got an awful temper. Probably going to start throwing things."

Re: Lost
The woman raised her ladle up grouchily and pointed it at the angel. "I don't care what you are, I'm not your servant, you got that, chickadee? Or do you want to make more trouble?"
Caleb shot a 'you can't be serious' look down the stairs. At the rate she was going, the woman was going to start a fight whether the younger woman participated or not. And it bothered him a little how shell-shocked the winged girl looked about the whole situation. Caleb rolled his eyes and turned back down the stairs. It wasn't his style to meddle in such things, but he had to admit he'd been the first to snap at the girl without cause that morning. He walked up to the bar and put a hand lightly on her shoulder. "I'll trade my oats for your eggs," he said tersely, gesturing for her to come with him up the stairs and away from the outraged woman.
