Lore: Drakeshead Inn and Tavern

The Captial of Arken, it is the darkest known city in the world. As it is the capital and the home to the Witch Queen herself, it is a very dangerous place to enter. Home to the toughest and roughest crooks around.

Daylan felt his blood pounding with a mixture of anger, worry, and fear. Fear to be inadequate. Anger at the treatment of Ora. And worry for... her. He could not help it. But soon he began to empty himself of all such feelings. Emotion does not befit a wizard he thought to himself. And so he began to drudge to Havick's, appearing perfectly nonchalant. He opened the door and entered in, absorbing every detail of the room.

The inn was empty, no customers... They been told to go home that the tavern would be closing. They left, but not very happy about it. The only person in the tavern's common area was the captain who was leaning back in a chair with his feet propped on the table.

"I was beginning to think you weren't coming," he said scratching a wart on his face. "I figured once you heard the wench was in danger you'd run right over. I guess I overestimated your bravery. Had to think it over a little? Wonder if she was worth saving? Or were you wondering if you should, since you haven't known her for long?"

Havick came into the room then, coming out of his office. "So this is him?" Havick asked.

"This is the man stealing all your customers," he told Havick. Lying. In fact the captain had paid the patrons to stay home for a day, to them a couple of silver coins made them rich. He had told Havick that his little waitress had been telling his patrons that they could get a better deal at Daylan's...

The captain had his own person gain to get from it. One was his pride the other might very well be a pretty slave. He was sure he could strike a bargon with the inn keeper to give up his lying wench. The captain had always been fond of her.

"Would you like me to have her brought down so you can admire my handy work?" Then an idea accured to him. Wanting to eat at the wizard. "Or should she stay tied to the bed?"

Daylan tossed back his cloak. His current clothes were shabby at best. He had traded a man on the street for them. The other walked away with a fine silk outfit, he walked away with anominity.

"No, I think. I was just pondering what would be the best way to kill you." He said, his voice cold. "I really didn't have enough time to decide, but I guess I might as well give you a soldier's death, one you don't deserve."

He looked over to Havick, "I simply opened a new tavern. It's probably better than this hovel." he looked around as though assesing it. His fingers moved underneath a table the entire time, recalling the movements of a spell.

He felt a small flush of anger as the captain spoke again. But it cooled quickly, "No bring her down her. I would like to see. Curiosity you see."

The captain smiled and called out to the two above in the room with Ora. One came and untied the half awake woman, pulling her to her feet. She coughed, the brute wrapping an arm under her to hold her up, her head rolling about as she hung on the edge of consciousness.

The dragged her down the hall and down the steps, letting her drop to the floor when they reached the bottom. Ora pushed herself up and woozily looked around, her eyes spotting Daylan, well one of her eyes the other was closed.

“Daylan…” she whispered.

"Here you go," the captain said and looked from Ora to Daylan. "Now are you ready to die?"

Daylan clenched his hands into fists, the knuckles cracking loudly. A vein slowly worked its way into appearance as the thug held her. "If there is someone to die today, it will be you, not me." With that he began to chant, his hands waved in the pattern he had been working out and in a moment the spell was cast.

It would expel every last breath of air from the men's lungs. It wouldn't kill them just leave them gasping like fish on the ground. Unless they had the will to resist it.... He didn't actually want to kill them.

The captain cracked a smile as the wizard chanted. It would be so easy to kill him while he preformed his magic. But, where was the fun in that. It confused him at first, when he exhailed and nothing seemed to fill his lungs again. He knew he was taking air in, but where was it going.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw his guard clutch his throat. The captain glanced to the other side as he tried to hold of the panic flooding through him. Havick was already whimpering like a baby, rather unusual, but it wasn't uncommon for Havick when it came to magic users....

The captain begain to gasp and gasp, trying to take in as much air as possible... but nothing seemed to fill this depleted lungs.

Ora let herself lay gently on the hard wood floor, her eyes closing for rest. She felt this strange feeling. It was like everything was going to be alright and she knew it for a fact. She trusted Daylan enough to rest with danger standing over her weak form.

Daylan watched in amusement as the men began to drop to the ground, unconcious, or to weak to fight. That made it easier to kill them, he thought to himself. "Bit short of breath there boys? Must be all the trouble you went through. Why don't you sleep tight then?"

Daylan picked up Ora gently and moved her form to the door. Now there was knife-work that had to be done. He chanted for a moment and a traslucent blade slowly began to from, so slowly.

Ora opened her eyes slightly and let out a gasp when she was lifted up, even if gently she still felt the slight pain. She glanced to Daylan, feeling utterably horrible about being bate... and about getting in trouble so much. "I'm... sorry..." she whispered softly as she was border lined with almost passing out. She refused to. She would watch to make sure Daylan was safe.

"What the-" a voice said from the kitchen door. It was a fairly tall man with black hair and blue eyes, resembling Ora almost as if he were her twin. His eyes were wide and his face flush with anger. "Ora..."

The captain struggled to breath, the sides of his vision turning black as it all begin to close in and fade away. There was one more guard left... he had to figure out a way for him to get to him... to tell him to come help. As the last bit of awareness left him he grabbed the leg of a table and jerked, knocking a glass off the top and sending it crashing to the floor. Then the captain was out.

He looked over at Ora as she whimpered softly. "Just rest." he said simply before turning. He felt the blade slice through the captain's spine and looked at the glass that had fallen, "Wastefull." he tutted before he looked up at the man who had just entered.

"Who are you?" Daylan asked coldly. The mystic sword came up with his arm. He might just be collateral.

Joe's eyes narrowed and he turned a bit red. "Her brother, who are you?" his words were short and curt as he saw Ora limp. The more he looked at Ora the angrier he got. He heard footsteps and looked up to see the last guard coming down the stairs.

A growl escaped his lips as he came to a conclusion of what could have happened. He drew his sword quickly and began to walk towards the gaurd. He would have asked the man to take his sister some where safe and comfortable, but for all he knew the man was in on it too.

Ora listened to what Daylan said and closed her eyes, unable to hold them open any more.

Daylan looked at the man and smiled briefly. "Good then, we're both here to save her." he watched the blood begin to pool about the captain, "Is that not proof enough?"

Daylan whipped his sword into a high guard as he heard the guard. He had some skill in swordplay, with the other he could at least match the guard. "Come on then." he growled.

The guard ran towards Daylan, drawing his own sword and making an arch downward with it. He noticed his captain, dead and lifeless on the floor, lying in a pool of his own blood., his eyes closed in deathly slumber. A slight roar crept forth from the throat of the large brute.

Joe walked slowly to the unconscious tavern owner lying on the ground. It would be so easy for him to kill the man who had caused he and his sister so much grief… To finally end that bargain that his sister had made on his account.

He put the sword the Havick’s throat, remembering all the times his sister had come home with bruises and he could do nothing about it, because if he did Ora would be carted off to the Slave Shop and he would be hanged. But, now… They could kill them all and burn the place down and then it would all be an accident. Maybe he could even convince Ora to go away… even though for years she had stayed around for the bet and to take care of him.

Daylan brought his sword up flat to block the blow, grunting with exertion at the sudden movement. He watched as Joe walked off to the side, "You damn coward, help me!" he cried angrily before taking a slash at the guard's belly. The mystic began to lose its solidity and Daylan felt wisps of it begin to escape.

Joe looked up from having his blade pointed into Havick's throat. Joe, with one hand pulled a blade from a knife sheath on his hip and with two fingers through it at the man attacking Daylan. It shot into the guards throat, sending him to his knees gasping and bleeding.

"Who are you calling a coward," Joe said defencively, bringing his sword down on Havick's head with out looking.

He walked behind the counter and grabbed the bottles of ale and such and began poring them all over the place. He even went upstares and came down with it, dribbling it around the bodies and such.

"Havick's had trouble with fires over the years..." he said lighting a match as he backed towards the back door. "Come out this way... we don't want anyone to see you go out the front... Please get Ora..."

Daylan fully dismissed the sword looking at the guard gurgling with the dagger through his throat. He spat on the man's face and looked over to Joe, "You." he said with the faintest smile playing across his face.

He moved over to Ora, gently picking her up. "I do ever so love fires." he said laughing, "All right then, I'll take her to mine own tavern." He began to leave through the back door, pushing it open with his foot.
