Lore: (mature) Running Out of Time(Just outside of Hepian)

This is the forest that covers most of Ighten in dense and thick trees. It is the oldest forest in Heirot, since most of the Forests in Arken have been destroyed. It is well known as a haunted forest where ghosts and demons reside. In the forest are many villages. The villagers will tell you tales of trees that eat people, gaint spiders, and dragon lairs.

The old woman looked at him for a moment. She turned around in her seat. "I'm not for sure on how to get it out... I guess the best way would be an exersism... You'd have to go to a priest for that though," she told him, digging through some books. There may be other ways. Maybe they invovle killing you..."

"And by the spirit in the girl, I mean another life source... Another soul... But, much... much darker."

* * *

"You," the strange man said and smiled a toothy smile that showed his four fangs. What was he in the first place.

Mia blinked at him, not completely understanding. Then again it was one of those days when her brain just wanted to take it easy. "Please, I'm not in the mood to kill someone today..."

"Kill?" the man asked.

"If I have to..."

The man laughed as if he found it funny. "That would be most amusing... I think we should try it..." He grabbed her arm roughly.

"Hey! Let go of me!" Mia yelled.

"Shh..." he said, grinning mischeviously.

"Bejei!!" Mia called. "Bejei!"

"Shh!" he hissed at her, dragging her a bit closer to him... But then a smile came to his face and he let go of her... He disappeared into the crowed of people...

Bejei didn't grasp the concept on what the old lady was trying to imply. His mind was still wandering else where, trying to find a suitable solution to his problem. He needed to get rid of the evil entity, and by doing so, he might have to go to the extreme to do it.

He just got the jest of what the old lady said about removing the spirit when he heard Mia yelled out hsi name like she was in trouble. He didn't get a chance to reply to the old woman as he stood up and raced outside. He made it just in time to see Mia staring into the crowd of people.

"What's going on Mia?" He asked her while he glanced around in the direction she was looking in. "You sounded urgent. Tell me what it is?"

Mia turned around and looked at Bejei for a moment, glancing back behind her with a confused expression on her face. “That man we ran into coming out of the tent... He’s been following me all day and he just grabbed me and tried to drag me off...” she said sighing.

“I don’t know why he’s bothering me... I guess he got scared when I yelled for you, he walked off rather-”

To Mia it happened in slow motion, but to Bejei it could have happened differently. A pale man with large black leathery wings swooped down and wrapped an arm around her waist, hoisting her up and into the air again in one fluent motion. Her arms reached out to Bejei, but before he
could even think about grabbing her hands she was more than a hundred feet in the air.

She screamed. If there was thing she hated more than anything in this world it was heights. She kicked and struggled, but realized that if he let go of her she would plummet to her death. This made her freeze in all movement. “Please! Put me down!” she called.

With a sick sense of humor the thing let her go... She dropped rapidly, but the thing swooped down and caught her before she could hit the ground. This time she was facing the being and could see who it was.

It was the man who had been following her... He had wings?! Why was he doing this?

Bejei had no clue who Mia was referring to. The man they ran into? He thought about what she told him, and what the man did to her. His rage began to boil uncontrollably since he couldn't stand someone forcing themselves on her. He would kill this fool.

He didn't get a chance to say anything as a wing man swooped down and lifted Mia into the air. Bejei tried to reach for her hand, but it was out of range. He grasped nothing but air as the wing man took Mia into the air along with him.

Bejei stared at them while she screamed. He was unable to protect her, and he could do nothing but watch them. He knew Mia was afraid of heights, but he decided he would do something to help her. He immediately ran in the direction where the wing man took her. His heart stopped for a milisecond as she was dropped then swooped back up by the stranger.

"Damn it!" He uttered angrily to himself as he kept close eye on them.

Mia could do nothing but let this man hold her and fly her to where ever he pleased. "Damn! He's still following us," the man muttered.

He glanced down at Mia and a cruel smile formed on his lips. "I was hoping to have you to myself if only for a little while. Maybe I can loose him..."

The man swooped low to fly in between the trees so Bejei couldn't see him. When he was close enough to the mountains he flew higher and disappeared in between two mountains...

The man flew inside a cave. It was a familiar cave. The cave she had been in when she met Casania... which only happened shortly. The girl wasn't here...

The man dropped her roughly. "Well, even if he did see us fly in here it will take him some time to figure out where the trail is that leads up to this place..."

Mia stood up quickly backing away and going towards the path she knew of. The small crevice that a broad shouldered man such as himself wouldn't be able to fit through... hopefully.

He grabbed her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her tightly to him.

"Let go of me!" she yelled, kicking her feet and trying to hit him in a place where it would do the most damage.

She managed to hit him some where. He let go of her and she ran fast, squeezing into the crevice.

Bejei had a feeling the wing man would try anything to get rid of him. He ran out of the carnival and into the forest, chasing after the stranger who kidnapped his love. He didn't see the man fly back out as he raced through the thick brush, trying to avoid everything in his path. He knew if he couldn't see where the man went then he would use his senses to locate them.

"This way..." He whispered to no one in particular.

He made his way through several outlying obstacle until he appeared where the mountains were located. It was an excellent place to hide so he would begin to search for them there. Just as long as he could still sense the faint life force of Mia then he would stop at nothing until he found her. He would make the guy regret ever putting a finger on her.

Bejei pushed his way in between the mountain area as he frantically tried to locate Mia's presence. He felt it nearby, and he hurried in that direction.

Dryden smiled, his eyes almost glowing to Mia from her dark refuge. "You can't stay in there forever," he said grinning. "Come out, I promise it won't hurt..."

"Go away," Mia yelled. Why her? Why did men find her so attractive? Why did they always want to bother her? Force themselves on her? It made no sense!

She backed further and further into the crevice until there was nothing under her feet. With a faint scream she fell through the stone flooring and into ice cold water that moved rapidly.

Her head came up and she gasped for air. She couldn't see anything! The river ran in some sorto f dark cavern. She couldn't even see where she was going... She was slammed into hard surfaces over and over that seemed to be sticking up in the middle of her path.

She tried to keep her head above water as she went down a short drop. Then a longer drop... And then finally one that felt as if she were falling forever.

She plunged into the water, the current moving her quickly, the gently and finally she just floated. This room was a bit brighter. It glowed with an unearthly blue light from the top. It seemed to go on forever, all around her was nothing but water and a high wall of rock that went all the way up into darkness above. The only thing that could be told about what was above her was the strange bluish white light. For all she knew it could have been the sun...

The water was so cold it made her body numb. She swam towards a single rock in the middle of the water it seemed and clung to it, her eyes scanning around. She hated being in water that she couldn't see her legs in. She imagened some large unknown creature swimming around waiting to eat her...

Bejei heard a faint scream that sounded somewhat like Mia. He didn't know if it was her or not, but he decided to check it out anyway. He ran in the direction of the noise and when he came nearer, he noticed a cave. It was dark, but he could undoubtedly sense someone within. Could it be?

He cautiously entered the cave, hoping he would fine Mia or the voice he heard, but he found the wing man. Damn! If he was there then where did Mia go? If he harmed her then his life would be forfeit. No more games, he would end it here and now.

"Where's Mia?!" He stated angrily. "Tell me where she is, and I'll make your death a swift and painful one. You don't tell me then I will torture you and let you watch yourself bleed to death. Which is it?"

Dryden laughed and turned his head to the side. "She fell," he said calmly. "I doubt she's a live now. There really isn't any telling where that hole goes. There's no way you or I are getting bac k there to get her, might as well give up..."

Dryden turned around, spreading his wings out far before bringing them around him like a leathery cloak. His crimson eyes looked at Bejei.

"I was hoping you would be a little bit longer finding us. I would have left her alive for you..."

Hole? Bejei frowned angrily at the fool who thought he would kidnap Mia and get away with it so easily. No. He would not allow that to happen, but if he fought him then Mia would be in some trouble, and he wouldn't know about it. He had to decide what to do...

"Shut the hell up! I will kill you right now, but Mia's more important than your worthless life. I can kill you anytime." He replied angrily, but with a more calmer rage than usual. "Get the hell of my sight!"

Bejei glanced in the direction of the hole, but he was too large to fit through. How would he help Mia if he couldn't even find her? He didn't care so he unsheathed his katana and struck away at the little area he couldn't pass through. He eventually made a hole big enough to fall through.

"You better be gone when I return." With that said, Bejei hopped into the hole and fell into the water, following the same trail Mia went through.

Mia coughed up some water that had managed to get in her lungs during the adventure through the dark water trip. She shivered, hugging the rough stone rock with her arms and fingers.

"How the hell did I get into this one?" she asked resting her head on the rock.

She noticed that the water was extremely deep, but the rock was sitting on top of a thin pillar.

The current pushed him through the rugged obstacles until he fell down once more. He immediately sensed the presence of Mia as he approached a figure in the distance. Yes. He finally found her, and now it's time to get out of here.

"Mia..." He called out to her as the water rushed into his mouth. "I'm here..."

He swammed over to Mia's form who struggled to hang on to the rock. He extended his hand to her and assured her that he would not allow her to drown or be swept away by the rushing current. He sworned to protect her, and he would not break that promise.

"Take my hand." He called out to her. "You're safe now."

Mia took hold of Bejei. She didn't want to weigh him down and drown him in the current, so she kicked her legs to try and keep her head above water.

She didn't talk much so water wouldn't flood into her mouth.

"I don't.... think we can... get out of here," she said in between splashes of water.

Bejei took hold of Mia and held her hand tightly. He would not let her go no matter what. He pulled her until he placed her behind his back, forcing her hands to wrap around his neck and shoulder for support.

"Don't worry. I will find a way out." He told her while water splashed on his face. "Tell me something... why did that guy kidnap you? Do you know him?"

He wanted to keep her mind off their situation and calm her nerves. He searched around for any possible escape while he waited for Mia's answer.

Mia shivered. "I don't know what he wants," she told Bejei as she clung to him tightly, the current dragging them along. "He just grabbed me."

Mia looked around, trying to find some place for them to get out at... but all she could see was a mountainous wall of rock. "I hate my life..." she said softly.
