"Thank you, Tetsumaru," Telanis said appreciatively, placing the dishes Laya had washed back into the cupboard. The unicorn considered telling them he would sleep in the grass outside, but knew that would be too conspicuous. He picked the most remote corner of the room and sat with his back propped on the wall, one leg stretched in front of him and the other tucked up where he could loop his arms around his ankle and rest his head on his knee. He sat there thoughtfully, tired from the day's events but somewhat too tense to sleep.

Laya took the couch, since she thought Kratos and Neko could take the bed once again. She curled up, not bothering to use a blanket for the fire warmed her enough. She closed her eyes and without delay, though she didn't want to fall a sleep, she did.
Laya's sleep was disturbed by hauting images, nightmars about a cold eyed vampire who was always there. Her eyes flickered as she made small gasps in her sleep and tossed around on the couch, jerking slightly. Every once and a while she would moan in a terrified way. Or repeat the word, "no" over and over until it seemed she had finally made it passed the point of dreams and into a relaxed state of sleep.

Telanis looked toward the couch with a sober frown, lifting his chin from his knee. It was horrible to watch her unconscious suffering. He stood up and walked to the couch where she lay, observing her for a moment before sitting down silently in front of the couch. He leaned back against the front of the center cushion and stared into space, contemplating everything. His hand went to his smooth forehead and touched it nostalgically, but he quickly stopped himself. An aura of security radiated from him, and he hoped it would keep Laya safe from what was haunting her, at least for now. At length, he drifted off with his head resting forward on his knees.

It was late when Kratos walked through the door. Seeing just about everyone in slumber, he tiptoed in and shut the door gently. Neko had fallen asleep in the chair and he thought it best not to disturb her, but then at the same time she complain and moan about the stiffness in her body from sleeping in a chair. So, Kratos picked her up gently and walked her over to the bed, there he layed her down. He watched her for a moment and thought about home.
He smiled softly and settled himself down on the floor, ,just under his sister..

As the night began to pass into dawn, the sounds of a party approaching the cabin could be heard very faintly outside. The party from the night before had given up on hunting the unicorn on the run, but now had reason to suspect the siblings and their female friend were in league with the creature. They had found their friends sleeping unhorsed on the ground, and followed footprints with great difficulty from there to the cave, and finally to the cabin during the night. The six men who had not returned to the village dismounted in silence and surrounded the house strategically, torches in hand both to light their way in the dim dawn light and to torch the house if those inside were not cooperative.
When all were in position, Fandir went to the front door and knocked on it sternly.

Laya woke with a gasp at the sudden light pounding sound. Her eyes darted around the dark dim room. She sat up slowly, not sure if she heard the sound of the knock or not... She could have been imagening it. She stood up, getting off the couch in a strange fashion so not to wake Telanis.
She knelt down next to him, realizing that she was to afraid to check who was at the door by herself. "Telanis..." she nudged him softly with her hand. "I think someone is at the..." She looked at the door, a dark thought creeping to her paraniod mind. What if it...
Her heart leaped into her throat at the thought of it being him and her whole body froze. "... the door..."

Telanis woke suddenly at Laya's soft nudge and looked at her questioningly, sensing immediately that something was wrong.
"Telanis...I think someone is at the....the door," she was saying.
The man looked to the door warily. "Don't worry," he told her calmingly, rising from his place and going to the door. "Who's there," he spoke firmly through the frame without opening the door."
"We're looking for someone. We'd like to search this house. Open the door," Fandir's stern voice came through the door.
"This is a private home. Please leave," Telanis ordered quietly, realizing what was going on.
"We won't do that. Those three may be involved with-"
"You may not enter," Telanis reiterated. "Please return to your families."
Fandir grimaced at the invisible voice speaking on the other side of the door. "I assure you, no harm will come to them. You should know that perfectly well, having lived near this village-..." His eyes suddenly widened in realization, then narrowed angrily. "He's here, isn't he. That monster is in this cabin! Turn him over immediately, and you will not be harmed. If you refuse, we will burn you all along with this cabin. You have ten seconds!" he commanded earnestly.
Telanis narrowed his eyes, stepping back from the door in shock. He looked back at Laya seriously.

Telanis looked at Neko with a frown. Outside the door, Fandir's voice warned "Five seconds!"
He looked around the room. There was nowhere to hide them. Should he go out and turn himself over? But if they were taken to the village, he could likely find a way to free them.
There wasn't enough time to deliberate it...he would find a solution afterwards. "Stay back," he said in case something happened when he opened the door. Looking away from Neko and Laya, he unlatched the lock and turned the knob, pulling the door open and looking the one on the other side straight in the eye.
Fandir squinted at Telanis as if he were too bright to look at. "Do not hurt anyone," the Unicorn warned, stepping aside slowly for the man to enter.
Fandir nodded despite himself, his attention still glued on Telanis as he entered the modest room. Despite his delicate appearance, Telanis possessed a commanding presence charismatic enough to make the man stay his weapon as he entered the room and counted the three wanted young people, as well as an old man who seemed to be sleeping in the corner. "Who lives here?" he demanded.

"They'll take you..." Laya almost hugged him, never had she felt so protected by some one in a long time. Even before Kron she had never had someone protect her like that.
Laya looked to Fandir. "The old man and his son," she said calmly. Her gray eyes stayed locked on Fandir, unmoving and almost unblinking. "They gave us shelter for the night."
