Lore: Destroy all that Binds

The Mountain of May'em is one of the largest mountains in Heirot, standing like a shadow over the Ishtassy village. To get to the village you must travel through the Ra'esh Desert and over the mountain.

After stepping into the forest on his walk upon waking up in Hepian, he said his name into the golden ball. He had a report ready for the sorceress.

Reya had just woken up and was in the process of getting dressed when she heard the summons from her end of the magical link with Jhaptal. Pulling on a robe, she answered the connection. "Yes, Jhaptal," she answered calmly.

"I've found Soran Nightblade," he reported to Reya. "He's staying in Hepian for the moment."

Reya blinked and narrowed her eyes as though studying a complex piece of art.

"Lady Reya?" her servant asked from where she was making her bed. "Lady Reya, are you all right? You look terribly pale all of a sudden," the woman said nervously.

Reya ignored her. In fact, she wasn't even listening. "Alive?" she asked Jhaptal, realizing already as the word was half spoken the absurdity of the question. Of course he was alive; he had to be, to be living in Hepian. Reya had thought it far more likely that her servant's search would culminate in the discovery of a grave than of a living person, if anything at all. "Are you certain it is he?" she asked tersely.

Jhaptal replied, "Yes, I'm sure. He uses the armblades you spoke of and he fights like a demon. He also knows too much about the fighting style to have stolen the weapons from the original and redesigned the style."

Reya's chest was beginning to feel as though some huge pressure were leaning on it, feeling her pulse as though it were a fist knocking on her ribs. If he were alive, Hepian was a reasonable destination for him to have ended up at, considering where he'd been... "He is alone, I'm sure?" she questioned, certain that nothing had changed.

Jhaptal had snuck around the house a while to confirm the number of people in there. "He's traveling with 2 women, a young girl, and a baby," he replied. "One of the women has black angel wings, as does the baby. But the baby looks more like a mix of Soran and the remaining woman, who is a half elf. The young girl traveling with them is also a half elf I believe."

Reya's expression flared. "You're saying he is living with them, and is intimate with these people? Are the children his? What is his relation to the half elf?" she demanded critically in her colorless, stern voice. She could not believe her ears. She was filled with astonishment and a certain sense of betrayal and anger that Soran might have accepted others, where he had not...

Jhaptal sensed something off in Reya's voice. Despite the fact that she maintained the same tone, the speed of her questions had sped up, ignoring whatever emotion the Lady Reya was feeling, he decided to answer the questions. "I believe the young half elf girl is not related to them, she refers to them as 'Soran' and 'Mizuki'," he started. "The baby I am not sure of. He bares a resemblence to both Nightblade and Mizuki, but he has the same kind of wings the woman, Siren, has. However, I did notice that Soran was sleeping on the floor with Mizuki and the baby next to him."

Reya frowned. This complicated what she knew she had to do. For a long moment she stood silently in thought. Finally, she said, "Find out more about them. But don't spend too much time on it. Do what you think is appropriate. I'll speak with you again within a few days. You have enough supplies and gold?"

"Yes," Jhaptal plainly responded. "I have enough. I'll report to you again when I have enough time to do so. Disappearing too often may be a bit suspicious after all. Any other orders Lady Reya?"

"That is all, Jhaptal," she said, closing the link.

Reya sat in intense thought for several minutes, her hard eyes holding no trace of feeling. Soon her doubts were settled, and she swayed a finger calmly in the air before her. The gesture activated a spell which summoned her servant quickly into the room. "Yes, Lady Reya?" the servant asked humbly.

"Find Mayn. Have her report here at once."

"Yes, my Lady!" the servant bowed, leaving immediately. Reya stood from the bed and exited the room, leaving the bed half-made; her servants would complete that task for her. Stepping out into her circular office, she took her seat at her desk. After a few minutes, the summons came from the door.

"Enter," she commanded, and her servant opened the door to allow Mayn inside. Mayn was quite young, no more than 13, with shock-white wavy hair that fell past her shoulders and pooled brown eyes. She wore a plain white dress cut above the knee with a mandarin collar and black Ongoreth-knotted buttons, low white boots and a pair of long white gloves. In her hands she held a circular, heavily ornamented mirror inscribed with runes, which she kept with her at all times. She was a pretty girl, but one could tell from just being near her that she was innately dangerous. A prodigy at magic, she had gained early acceptance into Reya's service due to her exceptional skills.

"You summoned, Miss Reya," she said politely, proudly.

"I have need of you," Reya said. "Jhaptal is investigating a group of people in Ighten's city of Hepian. I want you to go to him and assist in bringing he and the eldest male, a man called Soran, back here." Not liking the self-assured grin that was threatening to spread on the strong-willed girl's face, she added, "You are to work in cooperation with Jhaptal, under his command. Do not take action against the group without his leave," she ordered firmly.

Though Reya was a reasonable master, Mayn understood well the danger of disobeying her, and nodded quickly, a flash of more normal childish nervousness crossing her features before her boldness washed back in.

"When shall I go?"

"Go now. I want you both back with your captive by tomorrow evening."

"Yes, Miss Reya," the girl smirked darkly, growing more and more intrigued by the assignment. Clasping her mirror, she bowed her head, whispered a few soft words, and the glass blackened. A moment later, her body faded and Reya was once again alone in the large, domed office. Calmly, she turned to her other work.

Jhaptal strolls from out of the dungeon area and towards Reya's office. He knew that the sorceress would be awake simply from the fact that she was expecting his and Mayn's return with Soran that day and would not be likely to go to sleep before she heard the results of their mission. He gave a few raps on the door of her office when he reached it.

Reya was working on the procedures for an experiment that was to be performed the next day, though her mind kept wandering, distracted thoughts marring her focus. Damn. This is exactly why I need to end this, she thought darkly to herself. She was about to raise her pen again when the knock sounded on her door.

"Enter," she said calmly.
