Lore: Drakeshead Inn and Tavern

The Captial of Arken, it is the darkest known city in the world. As it is the capital and the home to the Witch Queen herself, it is a very dangerous place to enter. Home to the toughest and roughest crooks around.

Ora smiled at him and gave a single nod before returning to the part of the house that was the kitchen. She grabbed her apron and tied it around her waist. She looked up towards her door. "Would you like any breakfast?" she asked him, as a small stream of sunlight filtered in through the window. The Queen must be sleeping... finally.

"I have eggs... and some bread and jerky..." she said, bending over to look in a cabinet for a pan. She set it over a grate on the counter that had a metal tray under it with coles. It was in front of the window, which she opened so that when she lit it, the smoke would go out the window. She waited for his answer, because if he didn't want anything she could just eat at Havick's. She really needed to go... just encase so he wouldn't think she was late. Ora dearly hoped that the Captain wouldn't be there....

Daylan yawned as he sat at the table, "No thanks." he said, yawning again. He would be hungry in a few hours but not now. He looked out at the sunlight filtering down about the city. "Remember, if that Captain troubles you, talk to me about it. I'll protect you." he said softly, before rising to his feet.

Ora smiled at him, putting away everything and putting out the flames. "I will..." she said, walking across the room to where her cloak was and pulled it around her shoulders.

"I guess you need to get to your inn and open it up for business?" she asked, glancing up as she put the clip through the cloak and hooked it.

Daylan nodded, just now remembering the tavern. "Yes, yes." he said rushing back into the room and collecting his stuff back together. He tossed his cloak over his shoulders and raised his hood, "Best not to let the guards see me." As he walked out into the hall, he looked up at Ora, "THank you. I will remember your hospitality."

Ora smiled at him as she opened the door. "It was the least I could do. Besides, its not often I get the company of someone walking me home and someone in this house. Its quite lonely here sometimes." she said stepping of the house and stood in front of the door waiting on him.

She thought about it and it was a nice idea... but she didn't know how to ask. She guessed the only way was just to say it. "Maybe I could fix you dinner one night?"

Daylan smiled back at her faintly, "I enjoy company as well, we both seem to lead lonely lives." He chuckled to himself as he walked out the door, "Thanks." he mumbled.

He looked up at her quickly as she asked him to eat with her, realizing a faint blush had trickled into his face. "All right then. I'll make sure to come."

Ora smiled as she closed the door. "Have a nice day," she said to him, curtsying to him with a soft smile.

"I guess its off to work..." her toned chained from the happy one to a slightly down and depressed one. Her eyes flashed with a look of sadness. But, she brightened them at least to act like nothing bothered her. "Bye..."

Ora walked down the road, pulling her hood over her head and disappearing around a corner.

When she arrived at Havick's it was quiet to her surprise. There was only three people in the whole tavern. She was so surprised that she stopped for a moment and looked around.

She didn't see Havick either. She thought it was strange... She walked back into the kitchen. "Hey... where's Havick?"

"He's having a meeting with someone upstairs..." Ora nodded and walked back out to tend to the bar.

Daylan bowed to her, "And to you as well." he said, going his own way. He looked about, eyes searching for the thugs that had been harassing Ora. No one would miss them... he thought grimly, chuckling to himself. Soon enough he saw his tavern come into view. He entered in and began to prepare for the day, pouring himself a glass of white wine and waiting.

Ora was wiping down the bar when Havick came downstairs looking rather angry as usual. She continued to wipe down the bar, not looking up to meet his eyes until he grabbed her hand to stop her from wiping the counter. She looked up. “Yes?”

“I heard about a little problem you had last night…” he said and gave her hand a tight squeeze.

“Last night?” she asked in a confused manner, but she had a feeling she knew what he was talking about.

“So you’ve gone to work for another tavern have you? And screwing with my customers? Well, a certain captain paid me a visit today… and I think he wants to talk to you. Its out of my hands now Ora. You betray me by going to another tavern…. I betray you by handing you over to him.”

“What?!” Ora said loudly and tried to pull her hand away. “I haven’t done anything to your customers…”

“Look around Ora!” he said jerking her, trying to pull her over the bar top.

“I didn’t do this!” Ora protested as her knees landed hard on the floor on the other side of the bar. He grabbed her arms and began to drag her up the steps towards where the rooms of the inn were. “Please! I didn’t do this! What are you doing?”

He reached out for a door and opened it. There leaning against the wall on the other side of the room was the captain. He glanced up, his ugly face tilting. “Good morning Ora… Where is your bodyguard?” Havick didn’t enter the room with her, he just pushed her in.

The captain caught her as she tripped on a guards outstretched foot. “My my… aren’t we flustered…” Ora jerked away and stepped back.

“What do you want…”

“Your friend… in a jail cell… or hanging from a rope…” He made a motion with his head to the side and his hand above it. The sign of a hanging.

“Then why are you bothering me?” she asked, though she would do anything to make sure Daylan didn’t get hurt for helping her.

The captain smiled and nodded towards the corner of the room, by the door. Ora tried to escape, but there wasn’t anywhere to go. She was being pushed between three very large people. She got her licks in often, even managing to punch the captain. Before long she was reduced to nothing but her slip. Nothing happened after that. Slightly confused by it, but thankful, she slid back to the corner when there hitting and pushing had stopped. It seemed they were trying to set up something that looked worst than it really was… But, why?

They were whispering… and she heard Daylan’s name…. What were they going to do?

The guard stepped forward and picked up a piece of her torn blouse then walked towards her. Ora, saying nothing, backed into the corner then grabbed the window frame, using it to help lift her foot high enough to kick him in the chest. He stumbled back, but then kicked her in the side. She fell over slightly, long enough for him to wipe her bloody mouth with her blouse.

“Take that to that tavern… and tell him to come here… unless he wants her far worst than what she is,” the captain said and the two guards left. “Now to finish the touches…”

Daylan went upstairs to get the chickens and started aggrivating them with a sharp stick. The things grunted quite a lot and when they were angry enough he released both of their cages and hopped up on a chair. The two chickens went at eachother like crazy before he spoke a signle word and the chickens both fell over, dazed. He dropped them back in their seperate cages and went to the common room.

Costumers began to enter and Daylan served them with efficiency. Another one of his waitresses, a rather scruffy looking gril, entered into the tavern and he handed her the list of drinks and food for the customers and he retired back behind the bar, sepaking with those who came there and getting them drinks.

Two figures entered Daylan's inn with the hoods up, looking a tad bit out of place for some reason. The looked around before heading for the bar and standing there right in front of Daylan, there arms hidden under the cloaks.

With out a weird one pulled out a peice of white fabric and placed it on the counter. They said nothing and waiting on Daylan's reaction.

Daylan looked up at the two figures smiling for a moment, but seeming confused when the layed down the cloth. "If you're not going to buy somethi...." then it seemed to dawn on him. "What have you done with her?" he asked, remaining cool.

They both smirked, but only one spoke. "That's for you to figure out..." he said in such a way it sort of sounded like a pig talking.

He thumped the piece of fabric carelessly. "The captain says that when ever your ready you can claim her at Havicks... He just wants to have a few 'words' with you..." he said and folded his broad arms again.

They said nothing more to that, leaving whatever could be left for Daylan's imagenation and leaving all the choices up to him. But, it definitly wasn't words the captain wanted with Daylan, it was his life.

He glared at the man darkly, his fingers clenching the bar so hard his knuckles turned white. "You both get out... NOW!" he laced the last word with magic, a simple compulsion spell. He calmed himself again, "I will come in a few hours time. All must appear buisness."

Not even waitiing for the two to leave, he walked upstairs and grabbed the spell book from under his pillow, tracing his fingers across the runes and speaking them, feeling the arcane power flood into his mind.

Ora tried to open her left eye, but it was swollen shut. She didn't look very pretty at the moment, being bruised, half-naked, and bleeding from the nose and mouth.

She pulled on her right arm, trying to break the rope that tied her right hand to the bed post. She couldn't seem to do it, she wasn't very strong enough. She coughed, spitting up blood.

They were talking about her brother again... He was supposed to be coming back from taking the Howly family to Ighten... Did they plan to bring him to the tavern to?
