Search, Rescue, Destroy (MATURE)

City closest to the Border and possibly the nicest. Most of the pure of hearts and the good people who were trapped in Arken when the Border was forged live here to escape the evil in the land... it doesn't work.

"Well then, your Matron has absolutely no idea what I am capable of." she snarled with a wicked smile. It was a bluff. She hoped it would hold out. But the acid in her voice was very real. These past events, they were really making changes in her. More vicious intent, sadistic actions... She felt like she was slowly getting 'darker'.

At some point, she'll probably lose herself. That would be... very dangerous.

The man actually seemed to accept her words. He sat up a little straighter and didn't try to argue with her further. He watched her curiously and almost respectfully as they proceeded across the water, until they reached a stone landing and the cave Soran had found. Her spokesperson got off the vessel first, then she was instructed to come off. He began walking with her into a cave that was nearly pitch black while the other man beached and hid the canoe. The cave had a few random patches of the blue mushrooms that grew in the sea cavern, but apparently they did not survive well away from the water. The two men seemed to have no difficulty maneuvering over the uneven ground in the dark.

Mizuki squinted in the darkness, trying to see but with half elf blood, the keen elf sight was partly diminished. She tripped a few times, jostling her wrist and awakening other injuries. She groaned with the pain. One of those times where she wished she had healer blood in her.

"Where is this...?" she asked, mostly it was to herself thinking aloud.

"Kred'or," the man replied simply. Neither made a comment on her difficulty with the path, nor did they attempt to create fire or other conveniences to guide her.

Eventually they came to a widening place in the tunnel, then wove onward into a steep downward passage. In some places, steps had been carved into the floor to ease the grade of the tunnel. It was like they were going through a maze. The two men seemed to know it by heart.

Finally, they arrived at a large pair of doors built into the passage. The man with the braids knocked firmly on the door, and then opened it for the three of them to enter. They were suddenly in a huge, open cavern. Nothing like the one with the underground sea, but grand like a ballroom. More accurately, a throne room.

The mushrooms grew here, or had been grown deliberately, for they formed defined patterns on the walls, weaving together like enormous snakes to form symbols. It gave the whole area a dim glow that was enough to see by. A woman was lying on a curved bench at the center of the room. Two males of their species stood nearby, apparently serving as guards, and a female was in the process of feeding her something when they arrived. As they approached, the female servant scurried off and the woman raised up on one elbow to appraise them. Her long white hair was pulled into a tight cord behind her head and adorned with gold pins.

"I trust my Arai'sith have treated you with respect," she spoke in the same strange accent, her voice neither threatening nor welcoming.

Mizuki stared hard at this dark-skinned woman. The leader? Queen? She had a good idea, but she was dealing with an odd people.

"Well enough," Her tone was flat. "Where is my Arai'sith?" The word was becoming easier to say. 'Play along', she told herself, 'this is a female dominated society.' It was an easy enough guess, still dangerous though, if she miss-stepped in their customs. She thought of her next words with care. Whoever this woman was, she had influence and commanded the realm. Mizuki must speak with care.

It would be easier with her power. She was so terribly vulnerable; injured and naked. Gods, how had she forgotten that? She grimaced in her mistake, she hadn't even had been thinking about it when those, men had come. That probably explained their demeanor around her. Damnation.

"He was looking for an exit from your territory." she kept her voice calm, despite it all.

*Bows head in shame* I dropped the ball again. I sorry.

The woman seemed to appraise Mizuki, judging the believability of her answer. "I will return him to you when I am sure of your purpose here. This is not an easy place to reach by accident," she observed. "Particularly for one of pale skin. You must understand that here, we are at war. We are always at war. No passage can be given through a territory without a payment of tribute. Your Arai'sith is fortunate he was not killed by mine."

She paused. "It is the custom of the pale-skinned to go unclothed?" she asked, glancing over Mizuki's body and at her injuries. "Why are you injured. I am afraid that if you've battled with one of my neighboring Matrons, I cannot give you safe harbor. Unless you've won, of course."

Mizuki thought carefully. Lie, and it could be their lives, or it could save them. What an intricately woven problem they've gotten into. Soran, the only one in prime fighting condition, captured. Her powers were minuet in strength.

"I have fought..." she spoke with care, holding herself with pride instead of covering herself. "But with mages of the upper lands. We are at war as well. It would seem the entire realm is at war with itself."

Sometimes truth is better than fiction. But only the gods would know if it would even save their lives.

The woman raised an eyebrow at Mizuki, as if re-evaluating her in a new light. War was a language the Drow could understand. It was their entire way of life. People were only useful as weapons, and that was what this Drow queen was now weighing as she eyed Mizuki. "To have reached this place, you must have some sort of power," she observed curiously.

Mizuki almost laughed. If you call dumb luck a strong power, then sure, she was a goddess. But she nodded.

"Yes, I have power. But my battle above diminished it." More than just battle, a bloody massacre of her sanity. "Though it will come back to me. My Arai'sith was protecting me until then." Just by looking at this Queen she could read that showing any desperate need for a male would be frowned upon. Though doesn't any good leader need a bodyguard when the time is desperate? But to love the male, in this female dominated society which looks at them like slaves, that would be a death-wish.

The woman seemed very interested in her words, though her comment about her Arai'sith protecting her made her smirk. "He is a very bad swimmer," she said in dark amusement.

"His home was landlocked." She fibbed, hoping that they didn't know the upper land geography well. She shrugged her shoulders as if to say 'You take what you can get.'

"He works well to protect me with his life though." She said in all seriousness. "And I trust no other." Her mind worked to come up with a good story for them, one with no holes and kept them safe. "I'm a High Priestess and from birth he was matched to me for protection. I was captured, not one of my better moments." She smirked lightly. "I was incapacitated in my power and he came for me. Long story sort, we escaped with considerable damaged to my captors, but they chased us down and we ended up here, albeit ungracefully."

She shifted uncomfortably, her body hurting and skin prickling with the chill in the caverns. Her wrist throbbed, but she kept her expression calm.

The Matron studied Mizuki unreadably for a moment before giving her an approving, dark smile. "You are interesting, sun walker. I am called Kendra. This is my territory. If you wish amnesty here, we may be able to come to some agreement. Consign yourself and your Arai'sith to me, and you may serve this family. She snapped her fingers, and one of her female servants brought out of a set of spidersilk clothes, laying them into Mizuki's hands.

Mizuki didn't answer. Weighing their options in her mind. She took the clothes gladly though, as... mildly revealing as they were. Anything was better than nothing. She graciously slipped the garment over her head and it slipped over easily, practically forming itself to her figure. It was white with split sleeves and the front dipped dangerously low with gold chain making a play at holding it together. She did appreciate how deliciously smooth and soft it felt on her battered skin. She probably looked like hell and in this garment would make her look out of place within it. Her thoughts wandered to Soran..

"May it be bold too ask after my Arai'sith?" she asked carefully.

Kendra smirked. "My maidens are entertaining themselves with him. You must understand their curiosity - we do not see sun walkers here often."

Mizuki frowned. "How, exactly, are they entertaining themselves with him?" She didn't like how that sounded. It could mean ANYTHING and without her powers, she knew NOTHING. But her overly concerned question might raise suspicion, so she quickly added, "It is only that I do still need him. He's probably going to react rashly because we've been seperated." That was true, no matter how she said it. Soran was probably fighting like mad in some shape or form. "He's never seperated from me, he's...intense, when he is." Her voice sounded grim, like she didn't want trouble but if they didn't return him there would be. All around, lies or no lies, they coudn't afford that.
