Heirot

Mizuki sat in front of him and flexed her arm. 'How'd he do that?' she wondered and looked at him with a calculating look. She inched closer to him and held her arm out to him. Her look was of pure interest.

"How'd you do that?" she asked him with keen eyes. This was also a trick to kiss him again when he got closer.

Soran reached out and took her lower arm, the firmly but slowly twisted it at just the right angle to cause her to reflexively cooperate and follow his pressure, then pinned it again behind her back. He let go and held his own arm out for her to experiment, curious if she'd be able to pick it up by watching.

Mizuki let him demonstrate on her, then looked at his arm when he held it out to her. She went over the format in her mind again then grabbed his arm somewhat hesitantly. She twisted it, the wrong way but it made Soran fall forward close to her and she kissed him quickly, blushing when they parted and letting his arm go. She looked to one side idlily, her face quite possibly forever red.

Soran regained his balance and stared at Mizuki in bewilderment. "That didn't work," he said, feeling his ears burn. "Or maybe it did," he said suspiciously.

Mizuki started to whistle, playing the part of innocent, though her face was now a pinkish color.

Soran sighed lightly, resting his elbows across one knee and watching Mizuki. "I know a small house that should be for rent," he said, changing the subject understandingly. "On the Western edge of town."

Mizuki turned her head back to look at him. He was talking about a house. "Will it be expensive?" she asked. She knew either way she had to go for some kind of job, she just wanted to know how much money she'd need to make each time. She brought her knees to her chest and hugged them.

"Not too much. The owner owes me some favors," Soran said. "My income alone could probably handle it. I'll find out the details this morning, though, before I head out."

"Head out?" Mizuki's head perked up from her arms. "You're leaving?" She looked at him in a whole new light now. It was a look at suggested what had passed between them yet would also hold off a little while longer. If she paid attention, she could feel her heart still pounding in her chest.

Soran nodded. "I took a job. I should be back early tomorrow," he said.

Mizuki blinked and her urge to protect took over. "What job?" she asked and looked at him closely. "Will it be dangerous?" She was suddenly sent back to the time went her father went out to do various job's for people. Mizuki was young and always asked if he'd come back since she knew they were dangerous. Her father would rub her head and smile and say: 'Nothing could keep me away from my family.' He'd tweak her nose, then walk out.

"It's nothing I can't handle," Soran affirmed. I thought I'd secure the place and then leave after noon.

"But... what are you doing?" she asked him. She was curious as to what he'd be doing by himself. "Will you be alone? If it's dangerous I wont like it if you're alone." She clamped her mouth shut. It wasn't like Soran couldn't take care of himself. She suddenly felt ashamed, letting her feelings just burst through her and undermine Soran's abilities. "Sorry..." she mummble, setting her chin back down on her arms and looking at the ground.

"I'll be working with the client, who claims he can fight. We're just clearing out some bandits in the woods," Soran said, sensing she was worried, but certain she had no need to be. "I'll be back by noon tomorrow." He stood up and offered her a hand up. "Let's see what's going on down there," he said.

Mizuki took his hand and stood up. She was still worried. When she stood up she noticed that soran lost a couple of inches to his height, though he was still taller than her. She giggled. "You're shorter." she said smiling.
