Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu hissed when the soap seeped into the nasty bite. "We should wrap it with something... I'm sure those soldiers had some sort of first aid kit, if not only bandages. They're soldiers, its in their pay plan to be hurt." She lifted her gaze from the bleeding wound to look at Kyosuke. "We clean it and bandage it and maybe it won't get infected... And if it does we'll have found a town by then with a doctor or a healer?"
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
"They do, let's just get this cleaned out first," Kyosuke confirms. He had looked through the saddlebags earlier and found a few rolls of bandages. There's a little more scrubbing, the samurai ignoring the red tainting the water's clearness, before he goes back to the saddlebags and returns with the bandages. "Try to get as much of the water off as you can, we don't have anything clean to dry it with."

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu pulles her hand from the water and shook it clean. The blood begins to fill the places they had cleaned, replacing what they had removed. "I don't think drying it will be easy," she mutters as she clasps her wrists with her free hand and holds her arm out for him. She clenches her teeth while she tries to ignore the throb in her nerves.
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Kyosuke tears off a piece of the cloth bandage and uses it to dry the water from Shinobu's arm. "That's probably good enough," he says as he starts wrapping up the length of the wound with bandages. He doesn't use it all of course, there's plenty to spare, and he tears off the rest. "Alright, let's hope we don't meet any more of those things."

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu nodded in agreement. "Lets leave encase there are more," she urges, moving to gather what Kyosuke had dropped and head out.
Before long its night again and not another village crossed their path. The sky is darker again tonight with cloud cover, and colder. Shinobu begins to wonder if they are going north, since the cold is starting to feel less due to the weather and more to the altitude.

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Kyosuke is just following the river upstream, though they had taken the long way around, avoiding the burning village, before returning to the path they had taken before. As it just so happened, they were heading north, at least according to the sun. "Are you alright, Shinobu?" Kyosuke asks, looking back and doing one of his now frequent checks. It's probably about time that they stop for the night.

Shinobu nods, though he probably can't see. "I'm fine," she finally manages to choke out through dry lips. "Thirsty." Shinobu hops off the horse, tethering it to a limb and she goes to the river. She dips her good hand into the water, bringing it up to drink.
Her arm aches, as it should. She figures it will hurt less by the morning.

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
As Shinobu gets a drink of water, Kyosuke decides to set up camp for the night. They've traveled far enough that they're out of the forest, and are on grassy plains now. Just like the night before, one blanket is on the bottom, while he leaves another one ready for the two of them to slide into. Then he sets off to starting a campfire. "Hopefully the Arken patrols won't travel this far," he mutters.

Shinobu smiles. "Hopefully," she tells him as she goes back to the blanket and curls up underneath it. She's feeling colder than the weather allows. She curls underneath the blanket and watches Kyosuke build the fire.
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
This time around, the fire is much easier to build. It was more a matter of collecting dry tinder from nearby trees and bringing it back, being out of the forest. But flint and steel make the process much easier. It isn't long before they get a fire going, and Kyosuke starts cooking some of the supplies he took from the ruined village, stewing it in a pot he similarly received.

Shinobu watched tired as Kyosuke cooked. After a while she sniffed the air. "Smells good," she tells him through half closed eyes. Her arm aches, so she holds it close to her body. "Hopefully I can stay awake to eat it."
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
There's something in Shinobu's voice that makes Kyosuke pause. "Are you sure you're feeling alright?" he asks, sounding a little worried. It sounds like more than just tiredness for a long day's ride. That bite from earlier has him worried, and he slides away from the fire, putting a hand on her forehead.

Shinobu's skin felt hot to the touch, but not alarmingly so. "I'm fine," Shinobu tells him gently. "Don't worry. I'm just sleepy. We have been very active the past couple of nights." Her gently smile turns into a wiry grin. "Its fine."
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Kyosuke frowns, worried that this is the onset of wound fever, but even if it was, there's nothing he could do about it today. "Just make sure you get something to eat before you go to sleep," he finally says, hoping that Shinobu was right, and that it will disappear by tomorrow. If not... hopefully there's a town nearby.

Shinobu nods. "I will," she tells him knowing she'll get up and eat when its warm. So she takes his hand and kisses it, placing it warm against her hot cheek. "Thank you."
