Mizuki regained herself. Sniffing and rubbing at her eyes, Mizuki tried to wave it away as nothing but found it pointless to try. "It's just everything's not going right, and some...guy was in our room! Red eyes and with some silver haired girl with him. He woke me up to a dull headache and a pain with my gut-who is he? Why our room? Why bother me?" She was going on and on, rambling and still crying, but more in anger. She was still kneeling by Soran's feet. "He talked about you, do you know of him? He tired to get in bed with me..."

Vlad shrugged with an almost normal smile. "You seem to enjoy me anyway, so it shouldn't be a problem," he said, half-leading and half-carrying her into the bedroom of the suite they'd entered. He led her onto the bed and helped get her head up to the pillow. "You made me leave just as it was getting interesting," he whined, rolling onto his back next to her.

Soran's expression grew livid as Mizuki explained. "He WHAT?" the rogue demanded, and bit his teeth to keep from showing his anger to Mizuki when she was upset already. His green eyes looked cold enough to burn. The rogue took a deep breath and tried to deal with the situation rationally. First things first. "I will take care of it. You won't be left alone again. You said you're not well - Do you need something to eat?" he said, not explaining why he didn't offer her the barely-tasted plate of chicken that was sitting on the table next to them.

"Yes," she said meekly, taking note of Soran's sudden anger and wishing, once again, she had kept her mouth shut.

Tenele rolled her head to the side to look at him as they laid on the bed next to one another. Her eyes roamed over his face for a moment and she sighed, glancing up at the ceiling in the strange room. "I hope to find clothes someplace around here..." she muttered, glancing down at the white cotton rob that now hung losely around her figure. She reached her shaking hands down to try and pull the robe tight around her, though her hands just ended up resting on her lap.

"I didn't think I would still be this tired," she breathed. Suddenly the image of the man running them both through with the sword came to her mind and how she had clutched at Vlad as the pain ran through her. She had never been completely run through before, and it had been very painful.

Soran lifted Mizuki's hands and guided her gently up into his seat, pushing it up to the table again. "I'll be right back." He nodded to Rai, leaving her mother in her care while he went back to get Mizuki and himself some normal chicken. His appetite had truly fled this time, but he knew that didn't mean his body didn't need food.

Leaning on his palms against the chef's counter, he bowed his head and struggled to think of a way to deal with the problem. He felt like tracking down that vampire and slicing him apart, but there were several problems with that. He was a guest in the palace, awaiting judgment for high treason. He'd been forbidden to leave the floor without escort, and the point-toothed bastard seemed to have an intimate relation with one of the Queen's maidens, whom he'd heard Sinead treated as daughters. And his cleverly disguised armblades should have been announced and confiscated when he entered the premises; they're weren't something he wanted to wave around unless the situation was critical. Bare fists weren't impressive against Vampiric strength, and there was no telling how skilled the vampire was in combat. Vlad was not such an easy mark, no matter how bitterly Soran wanted to take him. At least he was thinking about this and not about how he was likely to die tomorrow.

Shit.

The rogue acquired their food and walked stiffly back to the table, his thinking time having helped his mood very little. He set a plate in front of Mizuki and sat down between her and Rai, cutting into his food. He had no idea what to say to her.

Mizuki chewed methodically into the food, not really paying attention to it. The lack of having proper food for a long time did things to one's metabolism, so it made sense if she barely ate a thing. Her stomach hurt to take too much in after having shrunk. She felt bad, she added more problems onto Soran's plate and she didn't even mean to.

"I'm sorry," she said after a long time, pushing aside her half eaten food. "I didn't mean to cause a new problem. It's okay really, I took care of it. He didn't even get that close. What worried me was that he mentioned you and then I came in and everything just collapsed on me..." she didn't know what else to say to make it better. She didn't want Soran to go protecting her honor if it wasn't needed.

Soran's eyes flashed to Mizuki's, a hint of anger showing in them again. "This is NOT your fault. None of this. Everything will be fine," he said without a trace of doubt in his voice. But what are we going to do for the rest of the day? The idea of sitting around thinking did not impress him. If his time with Mizuki and Rai was going to end, he was determined not to spend it worrying them. How could he take Rai and Mizuki's mind off everything? He looked over at the far wall of the dining room and saw a bookcase. The books looked dusty, and had probably just been put there for show. Read to them? The idea seemed so odd he was surprised it even struck him, but he was actually considering it. His father had read to him to make him sleep when the students gave him hell at school.

He looked at Mizuki and Rai's plates. They seemed to be done. "Let's go back to the room and relax," he said, though the word relax sounded odd coming from him. He walked across the room and grabbed a book off the shelf, blowing a layer of dust off its spine. He came back to the table with it and looked to Mizuki, watching to see if she needed support to get back to the room.

Smiling meekly, Mizuki gathered up the bedsheets that covered her form and used one hand to grasp Rai's. She sighed at the sight of her daughter. "We should get you cleaned up." she said, and looked at Soran pointedly as well. She kissed Soran's cheek and nuzzled his neck briefly before breaking away.

Soran's eyelids sank just a little as Mizuki nuzzled his neck. Overcoming it quickly, he straightened up. "Are you saying I'm dirty?" he retorted teasingly without even thinking about his words. His ears felt hot as his looked away. "I guess it wouldn't hurt."

"Yes," she said giggling. "You are very dirty." She pressed her lips to his then said, "I can't kiss you without tasting dirt." She teased.

Soran's ears were definitely red now. Mizuki never ceased to amaze him, though he supposed he'd asked for it. "I guess there's no other choice then," he surrendered matter-of-factly, making his way toward the door. He held it open for Mizu and Rai to go through.

Mizuki guided Rai through the door, saying that she should get cleaned up then lay down for a nap if the little girl needed one. They had been long on the road, it was amazing the girl was still awake. When they re-entered their room, Mizuki was only half surprised that the red eyed man wasn't within. But, nonetheless, she took Rai to the washroom and got her cleaned up. But the lack of extra clothing was an issue. Rai couldn't, well, shouldn't, be wandering in just a bed sheet as Mizuki had done. Nor should Rai be stuck in a dirty nightgown. Mizuki made a mental note to ask if they could get spare clothing.

She bathed Rai and wrapped the clean little girl in a bed sheet anyway, immediantly afterward cleaning her nightgown. Next, she gave Soran a pointed look.

Rai giggled and ran from the bathroom with the bedsheet wrapped around her and a long train of sheet trailing behind her as she cleared the room running to her father. She was wrapped rather good in it, so all you could really see was her head and her long curly wet hair soaking into the sheet.

A tiny grin peeked through Soran's stolid expression at Rai's antics and Mizuki's nagging to shower, the latter of which he suspected was less innocent than it sounded. Well, safe or not, he was going to need to clean up.

"I'll be done soon," he said casually to Rai, pulling off his shirt as he walked across the room toward where Mizuki was standing in the doorway to the bathroom. He passed through the door, nose to nose with her as he stepped by. His bare shoulder brushed against hers.

"You want to be on that side of the door. I won't get clean if you're in here with me," he murmured against her ear as he slid past. The infinitesimally small change from his usual tone was enough to make the words sultry, coming from the rogue's mouth.

A pleasing shiver ran down her spine and a smile spread on Mizuki's face as she stepped back from the door to let it close. Tempting as it was to follow the rogue in, Mizuki turned to Rai and gave her a hug.

"Let's wait for daddy to get clean and we'll sit together and tell stories." she said cheerfully, ushering Rai to the modest looking sofa against the far wall.
