(Mature) Overrun City
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
"You sure?" Kyosuke asks. It doesn't seem like nothing if Shinobu is looking around like that. He continues to act casual, letting his eyes scan for any movement. "Did you see something?" he quietly asks.

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu looks up above her and then back at Kyosuke. "I thought I saw something," she replied, but not elaborating on what just yet. For the most part because she wasn't sure. "Its an animal probably... Scavenger or something coming to eat the remains." She shrugged it off. "Maybe we should get moving?"
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Kyosuke frowns, then looks around. Whatever it was, it wasn't showing itself again, but his frown turns into a grimace. "If that's the case, I feel bad we can't bury the bodies." It's a genuine remorse too, but he's putting Shinobu's safety over the dignity of the dead villagers. With a bit of a sigh, he mounts his horse. "Let's get going."

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu stops at what Kyosuke says. It is a travesty to let them sit and rot. "Should we?" she asks him. "Maybe if not bury, then burn them in pyres?" She didn't want to think of all those bodies being ripped to pieces boy wolves or buzzards made her feel instantly shameful for wanting to run away.
She looked to the trees and then to the path, seeing nothing... not a stir of movement or a shadow. Maybe it was gone.

"Pyres would take a while to construct too," Kyosuke responds. "We could throw them into the burning houses at least." Still a little unceremonious, but it would at least spare them the indignity of scavenging animals. And there weren't that many bodies. "If you think we should do that, I can go back and handle it myself."

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu's face paled at the idea of merely tossing bodies into burning houses. She didn't think she could stomach it. "I would help, but I don't think I can. I'm sorry, I sound so weak stomached... If its alright I'll wait here." Her arms folded around her, almost hugging herself. "How can people be so cruel to other humans? Slaughter them like cattle... Its awful."
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Tossing dead bodies around isn't the easiest things to do, and Kyosuke shakes his head, getting back off his horse. He gives Shinobu a brief hug. "It's a hard thing to stomach," he says. Kyosuke is just able to do these kinds of things a little easier than the regular person, having caused several dead bodies himself. "But yes, wait here." He really hopes that the shadow earlier was just a figment of their imagination now.

Shinobu holds him tightly, and then when he is ready to leave she goes back to the tree she was sitting under and flops down, drawing her legs up to her chest and waiting. "I'll be right here." Shinobu smiles up at him softly. He'll need a bath again, she won't be able to hug him like that again if he smells like burned flesh upon his return.
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Kyosuke nods, his face grim with the task ahead, then turns back towards the village. It won't be for about another hour and a half that he returns. And he certainly doesn't smell very good again. On the bright side, he's managed to scavenge a few more supplies and rations, things he didn't have enough room to take back last time most likely.

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu stands up when he hears him return, instinctively looking behind him at the path to see if she can spot the black shape that had moved there before. She doesn't, and almost breathes a sigh of relief.
That's when she hears it, a growl. Shinobu's eyes slowly shift in the direction of that growl. Before she has time to react or even see what's been hiding quietly in the bushes a black shape leaps at her. Snarling the strange looking beast pounces on Shinobu and she screams as it takes her down.
She quickly puts up her arm as the fanged creature snaps at her throat. The impish being bites into her forearm, sinking dirty teeth into soft flesh through the sleeve of her kimono. Shinobu, too frightened to feel the pain, watches fearful as the beast draws back for a better go. Its arched neck allowing her to see the red leather collar around his neck, and the dangling gold emblem of Arken.
This... was a pet?

Whatever it is, Kyosuke sees it leaping at Shinobu and he reacts. Everything he has in his arms are tossed onto the ground and the samurai draws his blade, charging at the beast as best as he can and slicing at its upturned head, poised to bite at Shinobu again.

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
The head roles to the ground and its ghastly face is frozen in a wide gaping bite. Shinobu clutches her arm, still in shock at how quick that thing moved.
She clenches her eyes as she draws back the fabric of her sleeve to look at the ruin flesh of the bite. "What is that?" she muttered breathlessly, scooting away from the lifeless body.

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
With the beast dispatched, Kyosuke quickly flicks the blood of his weapon and resheathes it before kicking the lifeless body off of Shinobu. He quickly bends down and checks the wound. "We should get this washed out quickly," Kyosuke says. "Don't know what kind of diseases that thing might've had."

Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Shinobu nods and stands to her feet. She moves quickly with Kyosuke to the river and kneels at the bank. Shinobu roles up the sleeve of her kimono and dips her arm into the moving water. "Ssss... it stings," she mutters. "Do you think it was rabid?" Her eyes turn worriedly to him.
Re: (Mature) Overrun City
Kyosuke shakes his head, taking the bar of soap they used earlier and reaching into the water. "It didn't look like it was," Kyosuke says as he helps her clean out the wound. "But it didn't look very clean. Hopefully you don't get an infection."
