Argent watched the girl retreat up the stairs, then turned towards the innkeeper, telling him that he needed a room, and placing some gold coins in front of him. The man seemed very wary for a moment, but it did not phase Argent. He was quite used to it, of course.
After the innkeeper gave him his key, Argent followed the winged girl's lead and walked up the stair to the quarters that were stationed there. On the way to his rented room, however, the Dark Elf's ear twitched as he heard a soft, singing voice drifting from one of the rooms...
He paused, and quickly discovered it was the girl, singing to herself in her room. She seemed... almost sad, almost grieving as the words passed through her lips. Argent decided to linger for a moment, to satiate his curiosity a bit. The Dark Elf felt no sort of attraction to her (such relationships had long since become meaningless to him), but merely intrigued. He had never seen such a creature as her before, and Argent was becoming more and more determined to learn more.

Celeste continued singing her song, It's mix of Angelic and the common made it both pretty and haunting. She momentarily paused and sighed she only sung when she felt truly alone and lost. Witch was becoming more and more often. she took her pack and dug through it and pulled out a small bag of trail mix and nibbled on it. Mentally cursing she wished she had something a little more filling with her, but no being on the run made it so she couldn't. She wished to taste on of her favorite candies again and to lay on the beach back home, talk to the bueatiful mermaids and sing to her people, like the Monarchs had done for ages. But she had to remember that would be a dream and would never happen again.
"Oh, Great and merciful of Angels" she murmured the first part of her kind's ancient prayer "May I speak your names, to calm my raging soul, So I may find peace within this shell, To allow the wings You so graciously gave me to spread, and to pacify the most humble of my requests" Her voice was slow and soft as she recited the lines.

Caleb followed after Celeste for the better part of the day, but even at her injured pace, he eventually started to feel tired keeping up with her. He could just let her go on her way, but part of him wanted the peace of knowing that she'd made it safely to the town. He finally ended up gliding from a tree branch down onto her bag and scurrying inside, out of sight. When she finally made it to the inn, however, he found himself without a good opportunity to make his exit.
Now he was sitting in her bag, peering out from beneath the flap to get an idea of his exit strategy. She'd left the door ajar, which was convenient, although not especially safe. It occurred to him that this girl must have come from a very trusting society. Caleb, on the other hand, was a skeptic.
And he found himself very skeptical of the dark-skinned stranger that he noticed standing just outside the room. Drow were not well trusted in Ighten, to put it mildly. And to see one walking about on the surface during daytime was even more rare. While the rules were a little different this close to the Border and very little surprised the people here, Caleb's first reaction was to be suspicious of the man.
Besides, he was blocking his exit.

Celeste became uneasy and she stood up rather quickly, causing a bad jolt of pain to rack her frame. She let out a pained breath and stumbled but once she focused she moved across the the room. She saw a shadow of someone outside the door. She closed the door quickly, she shuddered. Shuddered and Drew a feather from her wing and paused, maybe it was Caleb, but her gut said he would never do that to her. but she still felt off about the mysterious man outside the door.

Good girl, Caleb thought as she closed the door.
Wait.....no...not good. Very not good. The door was his only exit.
Caleb glanced around the room, or what he could see of it without leaving her bag. There was a small bathroom in the corner of the room. A standing wardrobe on the opposite wall. All in all, no decent places for a grown man to hide, and definitely nothing to wear. He glanced at the window, which was obviously too heavy to open, and felt alarm begin to set in. He needed to get out of this room.

Argent just grumbled under his breath when the girl closed the door. Oh well, he thought to himself, It's not like it mattered anyways. He was used to extreme distrust directed towards him. It was also one of the reasons he didn't like to socialize with people. Argent's own race were greedy and selfish; others believed themselves to be over-rightous and superior. He just rolled his amethyst eyes, and walked down the hall to his room.
Once the door was unlocked, the Dark Elf slipped inside, being sure to lock it once more after he shut it. As soon as that task was finished, he pulled the curtians of the window swiftly, and threw off his cloak, relived to be rid of the thing. Argent shook out his hair (gently as to not jostle his sore head) and got comfortable. It would be quite a while until he was ready for travel again; staying put was the best plan of action for now.

Celeste relaxed when she heard him leave. She slid down the wall till she sat on the floor and tucked her knees to her chest. Celeste shuddered and made soft whimper-like noises.

Caleb stared at her from inside the bag. She seemed so hurt. He knew he really shouldn't try to interact with her this close to sunset, but he found himself climbing slowly out of the bag and hopping to the floor. He walked across the room to her cautiously and made a soft chirp from the floor in front of her.

Celeste Looked at the floor and spotted Caleb "Oh, You followed me" she sniffled she reached down to scratch his head. "maybe you're the friend I need" She smiled a little at the small little creature in front of her.

Caleb felt a pang of guilt, because he knew he couldn't be the friend she needed. But it didn't stop him from almost desperately wanting to stay with her until that horribly sad tone left her voice. Glancing back at the lowering sun in the window, he decided he had at least some time. He scrambled up her leg to perch on her knee and pressed his small forehead gently to the tip of her nose.

Celeste smiled and looked at Caleb "You're so sweet, Thank you" Closing her eyes she hummed softly.

Caleb slowly let his small body relax at the soothing melody of her voice. He knew this was wrong on some level. He was misleading her...he wasn't really a sugar glider. Then again, maybe he was. But he wondered if she would be humming to him if he were his real self and not this creature. Still, at least she seemed happier now. He slid past her cheek and climbed to her shoulder, draping his long tail around her neck.

Celeste relaxed and smiled softly. She looked to the ceiling and sighed. Celeste silently wished that Caleb was there with her.

Caleb perched there cuddled against her neck for several minutes, wishing he could talk. Finally, the sun dipped close enough to the horizon that he knew he couldn't put it off any longer. He had to find a way out of the room. Jumping to the floor, he looked at her and then ran to the wall beneath the window, climbing up the curtain so stand on the sill. He looked out at the frozen, snowy landscape and pawed at the glass reluctantly. It was going to be a VERY cold night for a man with no clothes, but he'd done it before, more times than he wanted to admit. There certainly wasn't going to be time to 'borrow' any. He looked back at Celeste and scratched at the window pleadingly, though he knew perfectly well it would make no sense for a small warm-blooded creature to want to go out in the snow rather than be in this warm room.

Celeste watched a moment before nodding "you're wild, I understand" she opened the window just enough for him to get out "now you stay safe okay?"
