Lore: (mature)To The End of The World part 1
"That won't happen again," he promised. This just wasn't an elf but a woman. He put his sword back where it belonged.
"How do you manage to kill it with a measley bow and arrow?" he asked sarcastically. "If you haven't noticed it is covered in dragon scales. Do you even know what this thing is capable of?"

"Do you know what I'm capable of?" She retorted without missing a beat. "It's only half covered in dragon scales. See? If I can get a clear shot at the heart..." She inched over to one side slightly. "Got it. Of course, this is all a huge gamble because I really have no idea if this thing even has a heart! That should make things interesting, shouldn't it?" She beamed unnervingly at him.
"That's you're plan?" he argued. "Aim for the heart and hope it kills him. What do you think is going to happen if it doesn't work? He is going to go into hiding and I will have to track him even more."
Why was he sitting here arguing with her. He couldn't let her kill him. This was his prize. "I'm afraid I can't let you take that chance anyway. Because you see, that thing down there is my trophy." He glared intently into her eyes. "If you shoot him, and you do happen to kill him. I will be forced to kill you." He smiled sneeringly.

"Ohoho! The manling has teeth!" She seemed to find this more amusing than anything else. "If I remember correctly, he isn't yours. The bounty belongs to whosoever manages to kill him. And if that happens to be me, there's not a thing you can do about it." Her voice was slowly increasing in volume. Hopefully this cheeky mercenary would subconsciously follow her lead and alert the target to his presence. That would give her an opportunity to see the monster's power, and maybe take out an irritating little obstacle. After that, well... She'd survived this long playing it by ear, hadn't she? "If, on the other hand, I fail, and your life gets a little less convenient, I won't cry."
Zeik noticed the bark falling at his feet. He paused, waiting, only to hear voices above that Kat couldn't not hear. Zeikiel smirked to himself, figuring to wait until it plays out. He hovered around Kat, watching what she was doing with carefull attention.
Kat, though used to his presence around her, still felt nervous whenever he paid her close attention. But she kept her working pace until she was done then turned to Zeik.
"Is there anything else, my Lord?" she asked. Zeik gave up trying to get her to stop that.
"No, do what you wish." he turned to the small lake and stared within its depths. Kat nodded but sat down, not knowing what else to do.

Drakoe noticed her increasing volume and played along with her sceem. The last thing he worried about was the creature down below them. If he couldn't defeat him, he could certainly escape.
"Fine!" he said loudly. He was nearly shouting. "Shoot the creature with you small bow and toothpick. If you happen to succeed in killing him, you will be a much easier foe I'm sure."
He wasn't sure how she would react, nor how the monster would. He didn't care. He was safe for the most part. The last thing he was worried about was an elf.

Danwynn's expression went momentarily dark, as though she were contemplating some act of horrific violence. "A much easier foe?" she repeated softly. "You poor delusional bastard." She glanced down at the target from of the corner of her eye, sure he couldn't possibly fail to react to Drakoe's outburst. But it was still best to take precautions... With a speed hardly astonishing for an elf but very much so for something else, she ascended a good eight feet into the tree and took aim at Drakoe. It was a shame, really; this job was proving to be much less of a challenge and more of an aggravation. She might've considered letting this by and leaving her prey to the irksome human until he'd gone and insulted her like that. Now... well.
Zeik's fin ears twitched and his tail snapped out angrily. Kat jumped up startled at the sudden loud yelling and looked nervously at her master. Zeik didn't look to be reacting...
"Alright then..." Zeikiel whispered the incantation for his Darkness Flame and spun around rather quickly for his size, then shot it towards the two unsuspecting hunters. Kat cried out and fled.

Dan would've sworn if she'd had time. As it happened, she'd just about chosen which unsavory word she was going to say before she had to fling herself sideways and down, breaking several branches and not escaping entirely unscathed anyway. In point of fact, her vest was on fire. Black fire. She shrugged out of it and hurled it as far away from herself as she possibly could.
She didn't personally seem to be burned too badly. One crisis had passed, then. She quickly descended to the ground and, after assessing the situation, decided she didn't really see the need to annoy this monster any further. She could watch it kill Drakoe - which she now had no doubt it could - or she could just leave now. It was a toss-up.
But there was a third option.
She walked out into the clearing, her hands above her head. "That was quite impressive, I must say," she said cheerily. Reckless? Of course.

Zeikiel eyed the elf suspicously. He wasn't surpised she had escaped, he wasn't aiming truely. Where'd slave girl go? he pondered but decided he wasn't really concerned. She couldn't go too far anyway and she'd find her way back because of the collar.
"I'd go with formalities, but I don't really care who you are. Nor, I would believe, do you really care who I am." Zeikiel was calm as he eyed her. "I believe there was a second speaker up there? Or do you just have split personalities?"

"Yeah, a human man-child with a big scary sword." Dan smiled sardonically. "Honestly, his attitude's probably the bigger threat. Humans think they own everything." She paused. This creature was far more intelligent than she'd been led to believe. "You're right, I don't particularly care what you call yourself, but I am wondering if there's any reason there's such an impressive sum out for you. Other than the obvious."
Zeik's attention sparked at the mention of humans. He never really saw elves in his travels, but humans held them in either high regard or low contempt. Zeik didn't know how to take elves but this one...
"Why do you think the humans would want me dead?" He sat down on a rock, not particularly feeling danger from the elf. "They fear something, they kill it. Either that or run off, like my slave just did."

Dan tilted her head to one side, frowning in disbelief. "That's really all? Damn..." she brushed some hair back from her forehead; the heat of Zeik's Darkness Flare had caused it to frizz out of control. "There are very few smart reasons to die, but that has got to be the stupidest." She slipped the strap of her quiver over her head and dropped it to the ground.
"I was already thinking about giving up on hunting you, but let's make it official. That would just leave a bad taste in my mouth." She didn't leave, though - not without her quiver. She'd taken it off as a symbol of truce, and picking it up again too quickly might be a bad idea. She had to admit she was intrigued by this... person anyway. Might as well stick around, see if she could get anything else out of him.

Drakoe dissappeared before the rucuss. He didn't go far though. He just got out of sight and found a nearby tree. He lowered himself down onto the ground within ears range of the beast and the elf. He didn't fear being seen because the brush around him was rather thick.
Drakoe heard the elf make her remarks about him and didn't particularly like it. He stepped out of the brush and removed the hood of his cloak from his head.
"You know I don't really appreciate you talking about me like that when you don't even know me." He said calmly. Drakoe didn't fear either of the two of them. He could his own if need be.
He walked over to the table where the slave had laid out the materials. "I think you're just scared of him," He hinted towards her frizzy hair.

Dan snorted. "Oh, really. You seem to know me well enough, mister 'much-easier-foe-I'm-sure,'" she said flatly, though there was a suggestion of amusement in her tone as well. She finger-combed her hair into some semblance of order. "You talk big game for the kid who almost jumped out of his skin when he saw me." She rolled her eyes knowingly, shooting Zeik a look that said, Humans are such a trial - as before, though, with a hint of mirth.
