"Well, neither do I, but I don't let it bother me. So...you're human, right?" she asked, raising an eyebrow, "My mom sent me here a few months ago when I was 18. I got a job at the tavern, and bought my house last month. It's a small place on just off Main Street." They walked for a while in the dark, passing the shops and boutiques in the town square. Around mid-night they reached Kymia's front door, she turned around to face him and smiled," Well, this is it. I'm home."

"I might be human... then again I could just be an illusion," the young charming man said to her, with a hint of amusement in his voice.

"Well, you do have a nice house..." he said coming up to the door with her. "Well... it seems you made it home without any problems..."

"Yea," she said, looking around like she'd never seen the place before," How can you be an illusion when you're standing right in front of me?" she questioned, playing along.

Kaiteki was walking down the street since he had nothing better to do, hoping to see a familiar face, so he wouldn't be bored anymore. He had been walking around for about half an hour now, and he didn't want to go home. There was nothing to do there either.

That's when he saw one of the Bortain brothers standing in front of a cottage with some girl. As he got closer, he saw that it was Zac.

"Hey, Zac!" Kaiteki called, waving at the two. "Who's this pretty, young lady?"

"Well, I don't know..." he said with a genuine smile. Then he heard his name being called and he looked up to find another person heading towards me.

"Her name is Kymia," he said and smiled. "She's pleasent company I must say..."

Kaiteki smiled and walked up to the two of them. "I must say," he said and kissed her hand. It seemed he had seen the girl somewhere before, but he couldn't remember when or where...

Kymia blushed and lowered her cheek to her shoulder. She looked back up to Zac, smiled slightly and then looked at Kaiteki. "You look slightly familiar. Call me crazy, but it seems I've seen you somewhere before," she put her hands on her hips and tilted her head a little," What's your name?" She turned back to Zac," Boy! Have I met some new people tonight," giving a slight whistle and a hearty life,"I'm a busy girl."

Avera slowed Buck to a stop as they neared the tree... yeah, THE tree. The huge tree where her horse had grown accustomed to staying because Avera rode him here so often.

Avera slowly dismounted but leaned back heavily against Buck's side as if unable to go another step because of some invisible burden that had tied itself to her shoulders. Buck let out a soft whinny. "Shhhh," Avera shushed absent-mindedly. Turning around, she took her pack from the saddle horn and loosened his saddle a bit. Throwing her pack over one shoulder, she headed through the thin coverage of bushes.

On the other side of the underbrush, she stepped into a field. It was glowing with moonlight reflecting off the newly-grown spring grass that seemed black tonight underneath the bright dew.

Avera made her way to the right side of the field and stopped decidedly. She took her cloak off and spread it over the cool grass as she sat her pack on the hood of it. Her mother chided her for coming home with her clothes soaking...her mother wanted her to stop coming here. She lay down on the cloak and seperated the dripping blades of grass to find the stone. Taking her knife from her calf-high boots, she traced each letter. As precious as they were, she wasn't even seeing them. She was remembering...

"As long as I live, you will not be forgotten," the girl sobbed as she heaved the heavy stone into the hole that she had dug with her hands. She made the labor as cumbersome as possible... she needed something to do besides think. As she engraved the letters, her tears soaked the stone. "I'll never forget," she whispered. she broke down crying and laid on the stone, as if trying to convince someone... "I swear it... I swear..."

Avera's thoughts were interrupted by Buck's whinny. Something was coming, so Avera kissed her fore finger and touched the stone before she got up and hurried to the edge of the field. Turning around to look once more, the spot was black where her cloak had soaked up the dew and she had parted the grass. She allowed herself a single tear that seemed to come from the depths of her soul as she closed her eys. Opening them, they shone a brilliant blue underneath her dark lashes, and she wiped the tear from her face, turned toward the forest, and returned to Buck.

Kaiteki smiled at her, his eyes shining with amusement.

"My name is Kaiteki Aseria," he said, still smiling. Then, he seemed to remember where he had seen her. "Aren't you a waitress or something at that tavern?"

He looked at Zac, almost looking for a nod or some indication that he was right, but it didn't look like he knew either.

"Yes," she replied, not necessarily ashamed. Not recognizing his face," Do you come in there often?"

(OCC: time for a flashback.)

IC:
One can consider Kymia lucky. When her mother told her to start a life of her own, she just started walking. She didn't know where she'd end up. Yea, she was scared. Who wouldn't be after being protected their whole life?

When she arrived in town that night, she had no where to go. No shelter. No food. No money. No nothing. She went into the tavern, which was the only place open that late in this town. The bartender noticed her right off the bat, for she was new in town, and new faces stick out. Well, he asked her where she was from and so on. Kymia basically spilled out her whole life's story to the stranger. He told her his sister just left town to be married and that her place was up for rent. He also told her that the bar was looking for good, hardworking people to work. So Kymia started work immediatly, and the next day she looked at the house. It was quaint, and cozy. She liked it and decided the job as barmaid would have to do for the time being.

It was getting really late and Kymia yawned.

"About onece or twice a week, I suppose," he answered, not exactly sure if she was paying attention or not. She seemed to be thinking deeply about something. "Well, it's getting late. I guess I should get back. I'll see you later, Zac. Kymia." He nodded and turned from them, walking away.

"Always stealing my moves," commented Zac as he eyed the young man with an arched eyebrow.

"A barmaid, eh?" he asked Kymia with a devilish grin. "Well, I might have to drop in and see you every now and then."

Kymia gave Zac a sideways smirk, and she slanted her eyes slyly as well," You just do that," she nodded her head slowly. "See you later, Kaiteki. See you around, Zac." Kymia opened the front door to go inside. She was tired. She'd been awake since 12 noon that evening. It was now 2:00 AM the next morning.

Zac bowed his head with a grin and turned around, heading back on the street to head to the house of his parents. Since he had just gotten back he hadn't yet found a place to stay perminantly. He didn't really know if he was going to stay in the J'ra village or not for that matter.

The streets were dark and lonely, but that didn't bother the young fighter a bit. Soon he was home, opening the door slowly and slipping inside so not to wake anyone.

Tristen walked close by where Avear was. He had been the one to worry her horse. Tristen was coming home from a night of partying. He hadn't really drank that much, but he'd still enjoyed himself.

He saw Avear's shape start to walk away. It didn't really register that it was her. He was only concerned about getting home to his bed. The cool night flowed around him and he was ready to be out of it.

He reached his house. He’d moved out away from his parents when he was younger. His dad thought it would be good to get him closer to the school where he trained, so he lived in a house that was only about a five minute walk from the fighting school.

As he sunk down into his bed he thought about how there was nothing else like this freedom he had. He smirked. More like the freedom I deserve, he thought to himself.
