Lore: Destroy all that Binds
Jhaptal took a moment to absorb the information. "How should I get in contact with you?" he asked. "Should I use a messenger? I'm guessing if I find this man you wouldn't want him out of my sight so i can continue observing him." The ninja decided not to pry any further into the method of this Soran man's escape.

Reya held her hands out above her and a web of magical energy spun around her fingers. In a spell that would have required utmost concentration for a normal sorcerer, a spherical ball appeared between her hands. The light faded to reeal a small gold orb about the size of a walnut. She held it out to Jhaptal. "Speak the word "Jhaptal" into this sphere, and a vocal communication portal will open between us. I will also be able to keep track of your location using that. If you require teleportation back here, notify me. If something happens to it, you'll need to return here on foot."
Jhaptal nodded, and taking the orb. He slipped it into a pouch on his back, and turned his attention back to his meal, which he finished, and Reya. "Am I to serve my normal purpose of guarding you tonight then?" He was refering to Reya's preference of having someone else sleep in the same room as her, which she always insisted was for security.

"Yes. You may leave in the morning," Reya said unabashedly, finishing her dinner and rising. "It's already late, so I'm going directly to sleep." She made sure the work on her desk was in order and retired to her chambers to change. A few minutes later, the door to her chamber was left half open to indicate he should enter and rest as well.
Jhaptal decided that he would wash up before leaving in the morning and walked into Reya's chambers, closing the door behind him. As usual, his eyes fell upon the bed that was made for him, and as usual he ignored it in favor for the hard floor in the corner. He set his weapons and pouches onto the bed, making sure the golden bead was still in his pouch. He sat against the wall and closed his eyes.

In the dark room, Reya silently eyed Jhaptal sitting in his familiar place in the corner. She was half tempted to call the whole plan off, resenting that she'd allowed such a sentimental whim to direct her decision. Still, there was no more room for denial. Now that her weakness was identified, all that remained was to destroy it. Oddly secure in the knowledge that another was in the room, she closed her eyes and slept.
Jhaptal awoke early the next morning. Normally he would proceed to go into hiding and follow Reya around, but this time he had a mission. He quickly went over to the showers that Reya had installed in the headquarters and used the magic water producing showers installed in them to wash off. Right after that the ninja dressed again and ran off, planning to find this Soran person that Reya wanted found.

Reya looked up from her research impatiently as yet another small chime sounded in her room. "Enter," she snapped, thinking her subordinates had encountered yet another stupid problem in the small research tasks she had delegated to the lesser sorcerers. Their incompetence tugged on her nerves, and she had begun sentencing corporal punishment on those who came to her with problems they ought to have fixed themselves.
However, no one seemed to be at the door. She thought for a moment that perhaps whoever it was had been scared away, but another possibility came to mind. Perhaps he had finally discovered something? It had been months since he'd left on his mission. She closed her eyes and sought out the magical signal she had built into his communicator, and then opened the link. "Jhaptal, have you called me?" she asked coolly.

"Yes," Jhaptal replied. "I believe I have found this Soran Nightblade in Hepian. I heard rumors yesterday about him while in a bar of an inn. I haven't confirmed it myself yet, but I heard them discuss a rogue, who couldn't be gay unless the gods were that cruel to women." He paraphrased. "I later heard that he is traveling with a few people, two women, one with black wings and one who is likely of elven descent, a child, also likely of elven descent, and a young baby."

Reya flushed slightly at Jhaptal's message, particularly the part about homosexuality. It was just like Jhaptal to remember such odd snippets of conversation, and would have amused her if not for the news that followed. That he would be traveling with others was wholly unexpected, let alone a group of women...and a young baby? She wondered just what the situation was. She knew what needed to be done, but first she would slake her curiosity. Then, her past mistakes could finally be put behind her.
"Good work. I want you to shadow them. Find out who the others are, and what they are doing. Contact me again when you know more," she said, casting a warning glare at a sorcerer who had shown up at her door to ask a question. The man obediently spun around and headed back in the direction he'd come from, grateful that Reya was distracted.
