LORE: A Barmaid's Grief

The only known village of the J'ra people. A peaceful place full of culture and beauty. Those who do not wish to brave the seas to be taught by the grand warriors in Ongoreth come here thinking they can be trained by these people, but this is a mistake.

KYmia took the reins and jumped on Majestic's back. She smiled down at Kaiteki. "Thanks," she said,"Can you had me my basket,"she asked pointing at the basket about ten feet away from them. "Do you need a ride home before I head off to work?" she asked sypathetically, still smiling.

Kaiteki walked away from her and picked up the basket she had referred to. Handing it to her, he smiled. "No," he said. "I don't need a ride home. I'm probably going to hang out here a bit longer. Thanks for the offer, though."

Avera shook her head a little... he must not have heard her. She smiled with amusement. "What do you do?" she repeated.

Aidon didn't answer at first then responded, "I can do anything you need me to do. The only thing I ever really done that was an actual job was work in my father's shop."

"I'm a fast learner," he added after a brief silence.

Kymia rode off toward her house with her tiny woven basket bouncing at her side. Majestic was a smooth stomper, very graceful. He seemed to know just where to place his foot for a smooth ride so Kymia wouldn't be too joustled. She already loved him.

"An all-around worker, eh?" Avera contemplated the thought of having this guy around all of the time. For some reason or another, it seemed like the best thing to do.

"Well, today's pretty set, but head back this way in the morning, and you'll have a job here. I'll talk to the boss this afternoon." Her big blue-green eyes reflected the golden sunlight as she watched his thoughts flash behind his deep brown intelligent eyes.

He smiled and noded,"Alright! I'll be back first thing in the morning." He turned and walked away.

"Thanks," he said sincerely over his shoulder. "It was nice to meet you." Walked on down the road heading in the direction of the inn.

He walked into the inn and noticed that they were rather busy. He made his way to the counter where an old man stood.

"May I help you?" the old man asked. His deep green eyes were wise and knowing. They had seen many different types of things and people.

"I'll take a room," Aidan replied sarcastically, "If you have any left." They laughed and the man gave him a key to a room.

"Room 135" he said.

"Thanks"

Aidan walked up to the room and cleaned himself up. After that he laid down on the bed. He laid there and drifted off into peaceful dreams.

The day had passed peacefully for the most part, and Avera was glad to see the evening sun sending its orange glow all over the place. She wiped her hands on her long, dark brown skirt that was soiled from the day's work.

With a warm and satisfied smile, she headed to the office to gatheer her things. She loved her "job"...

Kaiteki walked into the office with Avera before he went home. "Need some help before I go?" he asked, leaning against the doorframe, his silvery white hair falling in his eyes.

Kymia unlocked her door and went inside. Her cottage was dark. She lit a lattern and went over to the trunk at the foot of her bed where all of her clothes were stashed. Since she moved she hadn't had time to unpack. She pulled out her work attire: a blue blouse with her name emboirdered just above the shirt pocket in baby blue thread, black pants and a black waist apron where she stuffed her pens, tips, etc. She hummed a song as she dressed.

When she was suited, she heard a whimper outside the cottage door. Not knowing what it could be she opened the door and there sat a wittle-bity puppy about eight weeks old. She leaned down to pet it," AWW...little fella. Where'd you come from? Do you need a home?" The puppy closed his eyes in enjoyment of a friendly touch. Majestic whinnied at the nearest tree, where Kymia tied him, for there wasn't a barn or field to put him in yet. Kymia went back inside and came out with a vat to put water in from the pump. She filled Majestic's trough and a little wooden bowl for the lost pup. They both gulped it up in a hurry.

Kymia untied Majestic and climbed onto his broad back. She rode off in the direction to town and was ready for another long night at the local tavern.

Aidan awoke the next morning refreshed. He hadn't really done much the day before but his journey had been tiresome. He washed his face and shaved and made his way downstairs.

He found an empty able and took a seat.

"Can I get you anything?" a pretty young girl asked. She was smiling and cheerful.

Aidan smiled and replied, "I'll just have some eggs and bacon."

"Coming right up," She turned and walked into the kitchen.

Kymia grabbed her coat off the hook next to the door. It had been a long night. Not much happened. Kymia squinted her eyes when she stepped out the back door of the tavern into the street. The sun was making its appearance over the western horizan and the town began to stir. Her stomach growled with anticipation of a hearty breakfast. Kymia's hand went to her stomach. She was tired of the tavern's greasy food so she walked down the street to the diner. They served good food there.

She looked at the menu, but couldn't make up her mind. Everything sounded good. "I guess I'll have two pancakes with sausage," she said to the girl standing at the end of the table. She handed the menu back to her and looked at her through tired eyes,"And please don't forget the syrup this time."

The girl set a hot cup of coffee in front of Kymia and left. Kymia streched and watched Majestic outside the window. He was tied on the post by the door. She thought it was time he had some more feed and water. He'd have to wait though until she got him back to the house.
