Lore: Memories of a Past
Lore: Memories of a Past
Feiminn stood at the edge of the forest, her human form shivering in the cold breeze and shivering because of the mightyness of the tall trees and the thick bushes before her. How she longed to transform, to run back into the woods were she belonged. She took one hesitant step forward, feeling the magic of the forest drawing her closer. She was carressed gently by the feeling of home, the familiar feel of content coming over her.
But then she stopped, her feet no longer carrying her towards the forest. A great wall of fear hindered her from going further, a border that she'd never cross again, she'd swore that to herself. Her green eyes, the same colour as the leaves of the towering trees, showed determination and sadness. She could never return to her past, never. The forest always called her, tried to lure her back. Sometimes the feeling was overwhelming, sometimes only a whisper in the back of her mind. But she was obstinate, and her decision was made a long time ago. There was no return.
She threw back the long black fringe from her eyes in a defying gesture. The forest was her enemy, she decided. Quickly she turned her back towards the trees, and started to walk away from the edge. She knew she'd have to return here every once in a while, else she'd die. But never she'd give up to the temptation to completely step into the forest. Never again. Despite of her thoughts, she could still feel the almost begging force of the forest. It wanted her back. She almost gave in to it, before steeling herself again. Never again.

Mako sat in a tree on the edge of the forest which she had just climbed eating an apple. She was watching the women who seemed a bit scared of something.
'Must be the threat of animals here in the forest' Mako thought. She jumpd down from the tree and called out to her.
"Hey miss," Mako said, "Something wrong? Can I help?"

Feiminn flinched when she suddenly heard a voice. She hadn't noticed anyone before now, and got quite surprised. She turned back, her eyes glinting varily beneath the long black fringe. There was someone at the foot of a tree, a boy by the looks of it.
She got surprised by the question and shied back a bit, the lure of the forest still strong in her mind, pushing her to enter the forest. I must get away from here
"I am fine, thank you." she said stiffly to the boy, while backing away from the forest. She hoped that she didn't look too suspicious, that would be dangerous. The boy looked weak and powerless, but she knew enough not to underestimate a foreigner.

"Hey wait a minute, Wait!" Mako started after the girl. "It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to talk." Mako didn't know why but she found herself smiling at the girl, maybe to feel more comfortable.
Her mind wandered a bit and saw a merchant's son with a kind smile. 'At first he acted a bit like this girl does.' she thought suddenly. 'Maybe that's why I'm smiling...'

Feiminn stopped, unsure of what to do. The boy looked friendly enough, he was even smiling at her. She concentrated hard and managed to suppress the longing for the forest for a while, just enough for her to endure being close to home for some time.
"What do you want to talk to me about?" she asked with curiosity gleaming in her green eyes, but her stance was still wary and protective.

"I was watching you earlier and you seemed scared or something. Would you mind terribly if I asked why?" She tried to act as friendly as possibly without seeming threatening.
"Is it because dangerous animals roam the forest? If you want to go in the Forest and are scared of that, I can take you if you want!" She was excited, she wanted to be friends with this girl.

Feiminn flinched at the boys words and her eyes darkened a little.
"I'm not scared of the forest!" she snarled angrily, unable to stop herself. She was shaking, her fists clenched at her side. She knew that the boy only tried to be friendly, she could sense his excitement, but the forest was a very touchy subject for her.
"I don't want to go in there." she said quietly, more to herself than to the boy. Her tone was sad and her voice harsh. She glared at the boy, her green eyes narrowed in distrust.

"Oh I'm so very sorry." Mako said and bowed a little. "Well then, I was just heading towards town anyway, do you want to travel with me for a while? I won't bite." Mako smiled in her carefree sort of way.
"If you don't then I need to head out soon. I want to get to the next town before sunset." Mako really hoped she would travel with her. She really wanted to see the merchant boy in the next town again.. "Well at any rate, it's nice to meet you. I am Mako Talsor." She extended her hand out.

A deeply gutteral yet soft and smooth voice spoke softly out against the sound of massive wings beating against the night. It came from a tiny mass of roiling shadows burried into a throne far larger than the shadow itself on the back of the massive Roc. A heavily robed figure stood nearby, his face hidden by solid darkness, rather, his face was the solid darkness.
"Finally, this infernal forest is ending. IT, land on the first hill you see."
The great bird almost plummeted to the ground and stopped just barely above a fairly large hill just barely outside of the forest. IT promptly shrank until it was just barely large than a normal human and roughly humanoid in shape.
"I must remember to burn that horrid place to the ground one day." THe shadow commented as it too grew in size, stopping just barely shorter than a normal elven figure. The shadows withdrew along the arms until a gray cloak was uncovered and the shadows were completely hidden within this dejected garment. "Well, at the very least my understanding of this new form and my control of it appears to be grwoing." There was a short hissing reply from the shadow.

Feiminn stared at the hand for a while, before shaking it lightly. She'd never really understood this way of greeting.
"I am Feiminn Fjandi." she answered shortly, while eyeing the boy carefully. He seemed very naive and carefree, she wondered how long he'd survive without help. Probably not for long, she concluded.
"All right, I'll come with you, but only to the next town." she said quietly.

"Oh good! It's so nice to have company, wouldn't you agree?" Mako said to her.
Mako started down the path leading away from the forest into the nearest town. "Hey Feiminn, do you know the scary stories of the ghosts and monstera and stuff that's in the forest? Well I heard a few wild ones so I went to check it out. Turns out they weren't true, so disappointing.." Mako smiled to herself. She was kind of glad she didn't run into any gaint spiders or anything like that, she hated bugs.

Feiminn nodded quietly, and started to walk behind Mako. Weird... Isn't Mako a girls name? She looked closer at the 'boy', her eyes narrowed in thought. She could sense some small emotions from the other, mainly happiness and excitement. She sighed and gave up the thought, at least for now.
"Most rumours about the forest aren't true." she said quietly.

"Yep I figured as much. I have been in the forest for almost a month now." Mako told her. "Besides I'm always looking for an adventure."
"By the way, do you have any siblings? I don't my mom and dad died when I was younger. I never had any siblings, I guess my parents only wanted one child. But I think being an only child is boring." Mako was ranting on a bit while walking ahead of Feiminn.

Feiminn flinched slightly at the thought of her family and her herd.
"Yes, I've got siblings. At least five, maybe more." she said quietly. She looked down at the ground as she walked, the thick fringe completely shielding her eyes. She was getting quite annoyed at the boys curiosity, and if she'd been in her unicorn form she would've swished her tail angrily.
She felt miserable, and it was the forest's fault. She hated it. Everytime she travelled back here she felt miserable for a while, until she'd gotten far away from the trees again. She could feel the pull of the forest grow weaker for each step she took, and walked a little bit faster. She couldn't wait to get away.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable." Mako said to her. "We should be in town by night fall at least."
Mako pulled out an apple and bit into it. It was nice and juicy and some of the juice ran down her chin. She pulled out another and swallowed, "Would you like one? I have plently more." She held it out for Feiminn. "Eating apples always makes me feel better when I'm sad, but in this case, I'm really happy." Mako took another bite into the sweet apple.
