(Lore) Recovering

Telanis was growing more and more tense as he heard their pursuers approaching. Tetsumaru still didn't seem to understand the situation, and Laya seemed haunted by something. He was glad Kratos seemed to understand the situation, and turned to him. "Yes, that way," he said hurriedly, gesturing to the right of the path.

"I'm sorry, please come," he said to Laya and Tetsumaru, taking their wrists apologetically and pulling them off the path. As he broke into a controlled run, the clumsiness he'd displayed the day before seemed forgotten in the urgency of the moment and his body appeared to move effortlessly. He found a place that was well-hidden and stopped short, backing against a tree and releasing Tetsu and Laya. He looked to make sure Kratos and Neko were still with them.

Laya almost jerked away, startled by the sudden hand around her wrist. She stopped the urge when she noticed it was Telanis, but didn't understand why he wanted to get off the path so quickly. She followed numbly behind him, being slightly less graceful than he was at the moment.

Kratos and Neko jump off the path, close behind them.

"Do you think it's them?" Neko asked when they stopped.

"Who?" Laya asked, stepping back to lean against the side of the tree. When her foot hit the ground it fell into a hole shin deep. She yelped, covering her mouth so not to make to much noise. She pulled on her foot quietly trying to pull it from the hole.

Suddenly she lost her blance and fell to the side, as soon as she hit the ground it opened up and she disappeared with out a scream, the only sound that could be heard was something that sounded similar to dirt being pored out of a sack.

She slammed into the ground at the bottom, a sharp pain going up her leg. The last thing she saw was the hole feet above her.

Kratos turned at the sound of something caving in. He took note that Laya was gone.

"Where'd Laya go?" he asked, slight panic in his voice.

"I heard her a moment ago." Neko said and looked puzzled at the ground. There seemed to be, a gigantic hole where Laya had stood.

Telanis spun toward Laya as he heard her yelp, watching in alarm as a sink hole opened beneath her. He kneeled at the lip of the hole and peered down into the dusty blackness. "Laya!" he called worriedly, with as much volume as he dared with the villagers still nearby.

Laya's eyes opened slightly, though she didn't see anything but blurred images. "Hmmm...." she groaned, easing up and making a painful sound as her leg moved. She looked down to make a sick discovery that her leg was broken and the bone was protruding from the side.

Her eyes wondered around worriedly tryingto see through the inky darkness of the hole.

"Laya!" Telanis shouted more urgently, for the moment not caring if the villagers heard him.

Kratos and Neko crowded around the holes opening. With the new added weight the hole collapsed under Kratos's feet and he fell in after Laya, landing next to her and only receiving a minor bruise. He groaned, his face buried into the ground.

"KRATOS! LAYA!" Neko called down, worried. She had half a mind to jump in as well but she knew it'd do them no good.

Laya looked up, hearing her name, though it sounded more like a rumble in her ears. She took a shaky breath. "Yoshia?" she asked, and shook her head. No... it couldn't be Yoshia... try again... Its a mans voice... "Te-lan-is?" she asked softly.

She heard a thud close by and she moved quickly, sending pain through her leg and making her scream. She looked around dizzily as if expecting her wrost nightmare to come out of the darkness and attack her.

Telanis frowned at the scream he heard from below and Kratos's disappearance. "We have to get down there," he said to Neko, looking around for some way to get into the hole and still get out again. High above them, there was a vine hanging down from the tree, but the unicorn was at a loss how they could get to it.

Neko panicked at Laya's pained scream. Kratos turned over, his ears ringing with Laya's cry of pain. He managed to get his arms wrapped around her to try and sooth her.

"It'll be ok Laya." he said softly to her. "They'll get us out.." He looked up, out of the hole and just made out the others aboce them. "Can you get us out?" he called up.

"We're trying!" Neko called down and she looked to Telanis who was looking up. She followed his gaze to a vine and took the silent order to retreive it. She climbed up the tree with the vine carefully. It was difficult with branches to give her footing but she had much experience climbing things.

Laya stiffened at the arms that found there way around her. Her eyes were leaking tears from the pain running through her leg. She ignored the way Kratos's arms made her feel. She told herself that he was a friend and it was okay for him to hold her to comfort her.

She reached down and lifted her skirt slightly to reveal her broken leg. "It hurts..."

Tetsumaru wandered around and watched as the others called out names down the hole. He had unfortuneately looked up at the trees above them right as everyone started falling and missed the whole thing. Fortuneately, he was smart enough to realize that it'd be a bad idea to walk near the hole. Instead, he waited for Neko to get down with the vine so he and Telanis would be able to pull the two up.

Kratos made a sound at Laya's leg. It needed to be tended to, now. Neko was still scurrying up the tree. She finally made it to the specific branch and carefully climbed onto it. She crawled across it easily and loosened the vine free.

"Telanis!" she called down and threw the loose vine down to him.
