Lore: Forgotten Enemies
Lore: Forgotten Enemies
They passed through the gates of Hepian, a place Mizuki remembered well. Of course, it did seem to have a different perk to it. There was no perk. No one was bustling through the night streets, all the windows were shut. That was something she did not remember. Blade slept cozily against her back, along with the hairs standing on end at the back of her neck. 'Weird,' she thought as they passed through.
They came to an inn, whose name Mizuki did not see, but it looked fine enough. They dismounted their horses and walked them over to the stables. After two stable boys came and took their horses they went into the inn and booked two rooms.
"How about we eat dinner then?" Mizuki suggested. The Barkeep lead them to a table and went into the back to get a waitress. While they waited Mizuki brought Blade over to the front of her and cuddled him. From across the room there was a lone figure sitting by himself. At the sound of Mizuki's voice he lifted his head and looked at the group. He squited his Hazel eyes at the group trying to make out their faces. When he saw Mizuki's face clearly and could identify her, he jumped up to his feet and walked over to them.
"M-Mizuki?" Mizuki turned around towards the new voice then gasped.
"Red?" She asked back in question.
"Mizuki!!" Red exclaimed in realization.
"Oh my--Red! You--You're alive!" Mizuki got up to her feet.
"Yeah well... I should say the same thing." Red laughed and looked around the table. Red had a shaved head, and a strong build, a build of many years of hard work. He had tanned skin and didn't wear a shirt. He wore breeches and boots and a pair of scimitars strapped to his back. He had many tattoos over his body. "How've you been?" he asked after giving her a bear hugged around Blade. "I see you traveling, with people."
"Yes well," Mizuki laughed again. "Oh! I forgot. Red, this is Soran and Siren and Rai, and this is little Blade." After a pause and a question look in Red's eyes Mizuki answered him. "He's my son."
"You had a kid?!" Mizuki nodded. "Bloody hell!..Excuse me.." He apologized to Rai. He glanced at Soran and Mizuki shook her head. "Well then," he smiled. "Let me leave you to your meal, I'll come back later to talk to you Mizuki." Mizuki nodded and watched him walked upstairs to his own room. Mizuki turned back to the group at her table and sat down with a glowing smile on her face.
"That was an old shipmate.. I'm amazed he's alive." she added, a dazed and dreamy tone in her voice.

Soran watched the departing acquaintance of Mizuki's with vague interest. "Small world," he said mildly as a waitress made her way to them.
She looked somewhat troubled by the conspicuous wings on the dark angel, but pulled out her pencil and cheerfully began taking their orders. When all had ordered, she turned to Soran and said "For you, sir?"
"Beef Stew," Soran said in the usual cold voice he used when speaking to those he wasn't close to, "And whiskey."
The waitress seemed to go numb as the rogue looked up and met her eyes with an icy green stare. He had been missing for a month, but there was no doubt who she was looking at. "S-sir Nightblade!" she said in nervous surprise. A blush immediately leapt to her cheeks.
Soran looked up at her again questioningly, chilled eyes waiting to know what she wanted.
The girl looked like she wanted to crawl into her shoes, but confusion drove her to continue. "Everyone thinks you're dead," she told him shakily.
Soran blinked, unsurprised. "You'll have to disappoint them," he told her with a flash of vibrance in his eyes that the waitress had never witnessed in him before. She stared at him and the unfamiliar people he was with, mystified.
"We're a bit hungry," Soran mentioned after a moment to break her out of her reverie, but the fact that the ice in his voice seemed to have thawed made her look even more baffled as she nodded jumpily and spun to go back to the kitchen.
Soran looked back to the table and glanced at Mizuki. The conversation had drawn several concealed stares of recognition from patrons at the other tables, most of whom Soran had seen before though he'd not bothered to know them by name aside from those who caused trouble.
He looked at Mizuki, who alone was familiar with his reputation here, though the thought behind his flat expression was ambiguous.

From Rai's soft kiss, Blade stirred in Mizuki's arms and looked up at them all. "Daaaa..." he murmmered and turned over, or tried to, in Mizuki's arms. He was back asleep quickly with his head nuzzled in Mizuki's chest. Mizuki smiled lovingly at her son as her thoughts strayed to Red. 'How had he survived?' she thought. When Luc ratted them out the entire ship had been swarmed and ambushed by the military force.
Siren looked around in confusion.
"So... I take it you're somewhat of a celebrity here or something?" She directed the comment to Soran, looking around at the stares of the people that were, for once, paying her no heed.
She was hungry and edgy, just wanting her chicken and biscuts. The look in some of the people's eyes unnerved her slightly.

"Not really," Soran declaimed casually, though he knew Siren's guess was accurate. A moment later, the waitress came back out with a tray of food and set plates and drinks in front of everyone.
The waitress stared from a short distance away as though transfixed as Soran took a sip of his whiskey, savoring it, and set it down again. There was no doubt it was him, though something definitely seemed different about him, like he was...lighter, or something.. She couldn't explain it.
"So, I have some money stored away here, and what's in my apartment, though it's not much. That place won't be big enough, so I guess we should look for a different apartment, or maybe a house at the edge of town," Soran said, leaning forward on the table thoughtfully. "I can look around tomorrow and see what's available." It seemed slightly awkward to him to be talking about where to live together, but it was also hard to hide that he was excited about it despite himself.

"Good idea." Mizuki commented eating her food. Blade put his finger in her mashed potatoes and tasted it. "While you do that I guess we'll just stay in the Inn rooms and I can go find some work." She started bouncing Blade on her knee and he giggled and she smiled. "Got to take care of the kids somehow."
Siren grinned at Rai's, sticking her tongue back out at her quickly.
"... find some work." she caught the end of Mizuki's statement and looked up at her in mild shock. She hadn't thought about the financial part of this venture. She earned substantial pay for being a bodyguard to nobles in the Dark Angel society, but other than that... no work experience. She couldn't even cook.
Yet it sounded... strangely fun. She knew she had money saved up, but the next time she went to the city could be in the very distant future, and what she had on her wouldn't last forever.
"What sort of work?" Siren asked, blushing slightly. "Think there'd be any fun jobs around"

"If by fun you mean working as a waitress, then probably not." Mizuki said. "Especially if it depends on where you work and the kind of costumers you get. But, heck maybe we'll be lucky?" After her experience with an all male ship, she knew what men did all at once. Even if she did have a captain that protected and a... some what reliable boyfriend on that ship, it never stopped those men from harassing her. If she could help, she'd look for a job far away from dealing with men like that.
"I was thinking more along the lines of some sort of an outdoor job.. I think I'd go crazy pent up in a smokey hotel bar all night," Siren said, rolling her eyes. Humans did such strange things.
"But at the same time I guess one of us will have to stick around and look after the midgets," she said, sticking her tongue out at Rai again playfully.

Rai stuck her tongue out until something caught her eye. This shiny red ball that rolled past the table. "Ooo..." she said and giggled, looking behind her to see a man sitting at a table, bending over to pick up the ball.
He held it in his hand and covered it with another and lifted them. The ball floated in the middle of his had. "Wow..." he winked at her and motioned for her to come over to the table he was at.
"Mizuki! Can I go see the floating ball before my grilled cheese comes?!"

"Wait..what?" Mizuki, who was preoccuipied with a little baby boy who was currently trying to de-cloth her, managed to pry his little hands from her shirt top. She eyed the man Rai asked to go with. She couldn't say she trusted him... "Soran? What do you think?" He had lived here longer, maybe his judgment would be better than hers?

"Yay!!" Rai said, hopping out of her seat and running over to the man. From Soran and the others position they couldn't hear what he was saying, but it made Rai giggle as he showed her how the ball trick worked. He had a smirk on his face, his eyes sparkling with a strange twinkle. Rai was playing with the ball and then all of the sudden it was floating in her hands.
