Emora:
Arken... it was always dark... Well... except for the three hours that or so of sunlight when the Queen of Arken was sleeping. Elena had heard she was the most beautiful woman in the world. Elena had never seen her so she didn't really know.
Darkwood was dark and crowded with many people... and demons... Elena was staying very close to Airen. She was scared of demons, well their were many reasons for her to be. Most were evil, most liked to do horrible things to you, and most didn't care whether you lived or died.
"Airen... what were we looking for here? Are we going to get a place to stay... We've been traveling for a-" She screeched when a demon with plack eyes and red skin flipped her hair off her shoulder and grinned, showing sharp jagged teeth. He turned and continued to walk on, dissappearing in the crowed. "while..."
Airen:
As Elena watched the demon disappear into the crowd, another walked by and nearly knocked her to the ground. "Watch where you're goin', girly!" he snarled as he pushed on through the crowd.
"Maybe you should watch where you are goin', scum!" yelled Airen turning around to check on Elena.
The demon stopped dead in his tracks. He turned around and began making his way back towards Airen.
"And who are you to tell me what to do?" the demon growled in response, "I eat worms like you for dinner. You'll watch your mouth around here if you know what's good for you."
Airen said in a cocky tone,"Unfortunately for you I don't know what's good for me. All I know is that if you touch her again your the one that's gonna regret it." A glint of flame came into Airen's eyes and he stared at the demon." You will walk away now if you know what's good for you."
At this the demon spat and leaped at Airen. Airen dodged the attack, spun around, and casted a wave of fire on top of the demon. He then drew his sword and sliced off the demons head. The demons body fell to the ground and the head went rolling out into the crowd. " Now if anyone else messes with the girl they will suffer the same fate." Airen yelled victoriously. He walked back over to Elena pulled her close and they made there way towards the inn.
Emora:
Elena was afriad that what Airen did would cause more demons to come after them... and Demon Clans to come after them. She stayed close to Airen as they entered the Devil's Inn. The room grew hushed as they entered and most of the heads in the bar part of the inn turned to them before returning to there meals.
There we're so many different types of people in the room. Demons, dwarvs, elves, humans, Ishtassy... Some looked like pretty nice people... Others looked pretty rude. She just wanted to get the room and a bath and go to sleep. Elena had a feeling she wasn't going to like Arken very much.
Airen:
They make there way to the counter, where there is a tall,tan-skinned man with black hair.
"May I help you?"he said in a deep, hollow voice.
"Yes! We need a room for the night." Airen said.
"Just one?"
"Yes!"
"That'll be three gold pieces."
"Three gold... that..that's absurd."
"Three gold or you can find somewhere ekse to sleep."
Airen reached in his pocket and pulled out three gold coins." Here!" he said and he took the key and went to the room.
Emora:
Elena smiled appologeticly to the inn keeper and followed Airen up to there room. She noticed there were two single beds in the room a table with a bowl of clean water and a rag for you to wash with. There was a mirror and a candle stick on the table as well.
Elena sat her bag down on the bed closest to the window. She sighed and looked at Airen. "Some first day in Arken..." she said with a smile, taking off the sword around her hip and lying it on the bed too. She sat down and looked at him. "Thank you for taking up for me... But, I'm afriad if you fight one that there friends will come to kill us."
Airen:
Airen sat his things down and walked over and sat down beside her. He put his arm around her and leaned over and whispered," If they come, I will fight to the death defending you. I really care about you and it would kill me inside if something was to happen to you. Let's just not think about things like that." He almost kissed her again but remembered that he was going to let her make the next move. He pulled his head away slowly and went back to his things and began unpacking.
Emora:
Elena smiled softly, her cheeks flushing to a light rose color. That was sweet.... She wasn't so used to being treated like this. No one had ever been so kind and protective of her. Elena walked over to the bowl of water and made sure it was a bowl of clean water. She wished there was a bath room, but it was just a single room.
"Are we going to go down stares and eat there? I don't know... It seems like this place is really expencive... I wouldn't want to use up all your money."
Airen:
"We will eat up here, and afterwards i will go down and see if I can find out any more information about my father."
Airen pulled the last bit of chicken from the bag and laid it on a plate on te table. he then got the ale out and they began to eat. After they had finished eating, Airen stood up and made his way towards the door.
" I'll be back in a bit. I think it would be best if you lock yourself in. I have a key so don't worry about me." he said and he walked out of the door.
Emora:
Elena smiled and gave a nod. She locked the door behind him and stayed there looking at it for a moment before turning towards the bowl of water. She decided she would wash off before he got back that way she wouldn't have to ask him to leave the room.
She washed herself off quickly and redressed. She sat on the bed and waited for him to return. She laid back on the bed with her hands behind her head relaxing and staring at the ceiling. She had made an incredible leap in her life by following Airen. She felt it was her fault that he was kicked out of Ighten... If it hadn't been for her he would still be happy in his shop...
Airen:
After a while Airen returned. When he walked in he was rather upset and didn't say anything to Elena. He walked over to the water bowl and washed his face and then wiped it with a towel. He then went over and plopped into bed not saying a word, and there he laid just starring at the ceiling.
Emora:
Elena was slightly worried when he came back and he didn't say anything to her. She sat up in her bed and then walked towards his, kneeling beside it and propping her head on her arms on his bed. "Airen..." she said softly and looked at him. "Airen, whats wrong? What happened?"
She reached out and placed her hand on his shoulder and looked at him.
Airen:
Airen looked down at the poor sweet girl. What madness drove him to bring her to such an evil place. He feared what choice tomorrow would bring him. He rolled over away from her and said," i'd rather not talk about it."
Emora:
Elena looked at him as he roled away and said he would rather not talk about it. It felt like her heart dropped to her feet fo some unknown reason. She pulled her hand away from his shoulder slowly and looked down as she rose up. "Oh..." She then turned and walked to her bed, pulling down the covers and climbing under the sheets. She turned her body so it faced away from him and she stared at the wall for a long moment in thought.
Finally when her eyes couldn't stay open any longer she closed them and fell a sleep, the candle burning low into the night. She didn't know why he wouldn't talk about it with her.... But, she guessed it was his businiess...
Airen:
Airen didn't get much sleep for fear of what the day would bring. The little bit of time he was sleeping he was restless. Having nightmares of a nameless sort. When he finally arose it was still dark, which it was almost always dark in Arken, and Elena was still sleeping. He got up and left the room, locking the door with his key.
Emora:
Elena was sleeping peacefully and dreamlessly. She curled up under the covers warm and comfortable, not wanting to get up. She wasn't used to the fact it was night outside so she figured it was still late and she fell back a sleep, able to hear the loud noises down stares and the many people walking up and down the halls. She didn't roll over, so she had no idea that Airen was gone.
After a long while she woke up and sat up in her bed, running a hand through her tangled hair. She pulled on her slipper like shoes and gathered her things into her bag, not sure if they would be staying another night in the inn. Where was Airen... He had been acting so strange lately... Her heart stopped. He wouldn't leave her... Just leave her all alone after dragging her all the way here! Would he?
Airen:
All of a sudden Airen burst back into the room."Come with me," he said in a deep, evil voice. Airen didn't look like himself. his eyes were dark and soulless. His clothes were ripped and torn. He grabbed Elena and took off running with her. He went through the inn and out into the street. There he threw her at the feet of a mosterous demon. "Here she is." said Airen,"As you commanded."
"Excellent,"said the demon. He looked down at the girl. She was crying and shaking with terror." What's the matter my dear. scared of a few demons. Well you should be, but don't worry. I want hurt you. I just have a special use for you." He bent down and picked the girl up."Let's move,"he said to the demons of his clan, and they followed as did Airen.
Emora:
Elena had no idea what Airen was doing when he barged into there room and walked towards her with such an evil glare. He looked frightening as he stormed to her and grabbed her roughly. "Airen your hurting me!" she said and tried to pull away, but he was much to strong. "Airen let go!"
He drug her down the hall, the steps, holding her tightly and painfully. He carried her from the inn with everyone staring. He throw her roughly to the ground causing to loose her breath for a moment. She stered up at the demon with fearful eyes and looked back at Airen. Why was he doing this?
Here she is." said Airen,"As you commanded."
Why would the demon want her? What had she done to him? She started screaming and kicking and trying to get away when the demon thanked Airen and lifted her into its arms. "Let me go! Airen! Please!! Let go!"
Airen:
Before long they came to a great castle on a dark hilltop. The castle was surrounded by dark waters and trees covered in some type of sticky grey fungus. The air had a slight chill and the it was rather thick and hard to breathe. They soon came to the bridge of the castle, where a small demon stood on the inside.
"Name please?"he asked
"Shadowbane." the head demon answered.
"Very well. You may enter." he walked to the lever and lowered the bridge.
"Hush your screamin' ya little rat." Shadowbane growled at Elena.
They next came to the castle door and went in. For such an evil place the inside looked rather nice, except for the fact that it was dark and full of foul creatures of the night. they finally came to a great hall where a man sat in a great throne. They stopped in front of the throne and knelt before him.
"We have the girl, my lord," said Shadowbane as he stood up.
"Very good!" said the man."And what about the boy.
"We have him also. He is under a spell by Mesah. We control him."
Emora:
Elena squirmed to try and get out of the demon's arms. She was terrified. Her heart was beating so fast it hurt. What were they going to do with her? Oh, why had Airen done this. Had he meant to do this the whole time? He was only pretending to be her friend and to like her.... Why had he done this!? The demon set her on her feet, but held her in front of him with her back pressed against his chest and his claws digging into her shoulders.
The man standing in the darkness that must have been the leader stepped into the light and Elena gasped. He looked so much like Airen.... Except older. Elena took an involuntary step back... but couldn't go any where. "We have him also. He is under a spell by Mesah. We control him."
He was under a spell! Oh thank the gods... Elena thought, but what if he never got out of the spell. Her bright eyes sparkled in the dim lighting, they were filled with fear. "Please... what do you want with me.... I've never met you in my life. Why would you do this?" she whispered to him.
Airen:
The old man looked down at Elena. " You have not seen me, but I have had my eye on you for sometime." he sneered as he strided around the room with his hand on his chin." And as far as what you have done. Well you have corrupted my son for one thing. You have made him weak. You are also the reason for the death of one of my demons. And for this you must pay."
He nodded, and Shadowbane picked the girl up. As they were leaving the room the girl began screaming at Airen trying to reach the good that was trapped within him.
Emora:
Elena struggled to get out of the hold the demon had her in as he carried her down a dark hall. "Put me down!" she said fearfully staring at the demons face. She felt helpless just being carried around like this, not knowing what was going to happen. She hadn't corrupted his son! He was just fine! Well... not any more. He was evil now... She was all alone in an evil place with no friends, family.... or any help at all.
He carried to a thick wooden door with a few bars at the top that you could peek through. one of the demons that had accompanied them opened the door after unlocking it. Shadowbane carried her into the room and towards the wall in tha back in. He chained her there with her arms on either side of her head. The room was dark and the only light came through the bars on the door. It was damp and cold and dirty. The walls seemed to have wet dirt all over it and she could feel it on her back and arms. The demon stood in front of her with his face mere centimeters from her own. She was backed up so far against the wall she was hurting herself. He growled with a smirk and then turned, walking out the door and the other demon closed and locked it behind him.
Elena sighed and slumped slightly, her head sinking down. Why do bad things always happen.... What did I do to make him like this? Was it even my fault... I'm sorry Airen...
A tear ran down Elena's cheek as she stared at the darkness in her cell. How long it would be before they killed her. Why her.... Airen was the one who killed the demon...
Airen:
Airen for some reason began to feel Elena's pain inside himself. He didn't know why he felt this, but when her tear fell, he was released from the spell. He rushed to the jail chamber where they had taken her. "Elena!" he screamed, " Elena! Where are you." He searched heedlessly for the girl until he finally heard her soft voice in one of the cells.
"Hang on! I'll get you out of there." He stepped back from the door and blasted a ball of fire at the door. The door disintegrated in the flame. Airen rushed over to the girl, and broke her chains with his blade.
"I'm so sorry for this," He said mounfully, "I don't know what came over me, but there is know time to wait. We must get moving."
Emora:
Elena threw her arms around Airen's neck and hugged him tightly. "What happened? How... how did you get like this?" she asked him and stepped back looking at him. "Will it happen again? What if you start being evil again? I'm scared Airen."
She wiped her cheek, wiping away the tear. "They'll keep searching for us. They want to kill me because they think I corrupted you! Your father said he's been watching me for sometime... How the hell does he know about me? I'm getting so confused and scared by all of this Airen..."
Airen:
" I'm sorry, but I don't know if it will happen again," he said in a low comforting tone as he put his arms around the girl helping her up and hugging her. Although this wasn't a time to thinking about comfort." All I know is that you can trust me now, and we hae to get out of here."
"Cling, cling, thump, thump!"
" Listen!" Airen said, " They're coming. We must get moving." He grabbedd Elena by the arm and pulled her close behind him. They came to a dark crease in the wall just big enough for the two of them." Come on! We'll hide in here til they pass us by."
Emora:
Elena leaned against the crease as far as she could. She was holding her breath... She was scared the demons would hear her if she breathed or moved... or even blinked. She was clutching Airen's arm maybe a little too tightly, but she didn't even notice. She was still, very still.
"The prisoner has escaped... and the Lord's son is gone as well," one of the demon's said. "We must find them before our lord grows angry. Find them and bring them to me now! Search ever nook and cranny...." Elena stepped closer to Airen, afraid to be to far away from his protection. "Now!" the demon roared.
Airen:
"One, two, three, four... I think that's all of them." said Airen," Let's go!" They eased thier way out of the crack and made their way to the corner. Airen peaked around it to make sure the coast was clear. It was as far as he could tell." There's the door," he whispered." we're gonna have to make a run for it." Airen grabbed her by the arm once more and rushd towards the door. They make their way across the great hall and almost to the door when Airis, Airen's father, jumped in front of them.
"Where do you think your going?" said Airis laughing evily.
"We're leaving this wretched place, and your not going to stop us." responded Airen," All my life I have wanted to find my father, but apparently I don't have one."
"Oohh.....but I'm am your father dear boy. Like it or not. And I hate to inform you of this, but your not leaving. You're mine now,and so is she."
The hair on the back of Airen's neck began to raise."We're leaving here even if I have to kill you." Airen slightly shoved Elena towards the wall. "Stay out of the way," he said to her," It could get ugly."
The fire in Airen's eyes began to blaze."Now I'll tell you one last time to get out of our way!"
Airis looked at Airen for a moment in surprise at his son's actions and then he began to laugh. "Alright then boy, lets see what you got." Airen's eyes blazed brightly then he burst into flames. Airis stunned by Airen's incredible skill stood dazed for a moment. Finally, he himself burst into flames. Airen drew his sword from its sheathe. It also was enflamed. Airis fired a beam of fire at Airen and Airen dodged to the right. Airen raised up his sword and drove it into the ground. The ground split straight towards Airis with flame rising from it. Airis dodged this attack and went into the air. He raised his hands and began Airen began to come off the gound also. Airen was bound by some magic and couldn't move.
"What is this?" Airen yelled with horror. " I can't move."
"See what happens when you fight someone of great stature and power." Airis said," You die!" He waved his hands through the air and slammed Airen into the wall and then dropped him to the floor. Airen laid there lifeless. Airen was enflamed no more and Airis went back to his normal form and lowered himself to the ground.
Emora:
"Airen!!" Elena screamed and moved from her place at the wall and ran to Airen, kneeling at his side. She sat there looking at his pale lifeless looking form. It had to be a spell or something... He couldn't be dead. He couldn't just leave her here with this evil man...
Elena's hand ran down the side of Airen's cheek lightly as her eyes watered and looked at her friend... Well... he never had seemed like a friend... always more. Even from the very first moment she met him...
Elena looked up at his father. "Bastard..." she whispered and stood up walking towards him quickly. She started lashing out at him, hitting his chest and trying to hit his face, but her grabbed her wrists before she could do much more damage... as if she had done any at all. "Bastard!"
Airen:
Airis shoved Elena to the floor. "Get off me you dog! Put her back in her cell." He glanced back at Airen."Him too!"
one of the guard demons ran up to Airis and said," Errhhh.... Sir, there's no door left on her cell."
Then put her in another one," Airis yelled," And be sure it has steal doors too so that this don't happen again."
"Yes,sir!" the demon ran over and grabbed the girl and another one grabbed Airen. They took them to the cell at the far end of the chamber and through them on without even bothering to chain them up. "And stay here." one of them said as he made his way outlocking the door behind him.
Emora:
Elena sat on the stone floor for a moment looking down at Airen's body. She brushed the strands of his hair from his face, her eyes swelling with tears. If only she were a stronger, braver person...
"I'm sorry Airen... I keep messing your life up. If it hadn't of been for me you wouldn't have killed that demon... but most of all if it hadn't of been for me you wouldn't have been exiled from Ighten... I'm a screw up. I wasn't good as a maid and I'm not good at this," she said aloud, wiping her eyes. "If we get out of this I'm going to leave you so I won't put you into anymore trouble... I lo- I like you to much..."
Elena leaned down slowly and pressed her lips softly, ever so softly to his. She slowly pulled away and looked down at him. "I'm so sorry..."
Airen:
Airen woke to the sound of Elena's crys." What's the matter," ha asked as he wrapped her tight in his arms and held her close kissing her on the head." Why are you crying?"
Emora:
Elena looked at him and wiped her eyes, turning away so he wouldn't have to see her cry. She sat there with her back to him. "I... its all my fault. I'm so sorry Airen... If would have never stayed with you you would have never gotten dragged ot the castle and you would have never been thrown out of Ighten. I'm so sorry.... I diserve to be left here for bringing you such a horrible fate."
She turned around and looked at him with a soft smile. "Your such a kind man... How could your father be so evil?"
Airen:
Airen looked down into the girls innocent eyes and said, "Oh, my dear, sweet Elena.Don't put this blame on yourself. I have brought this on myself. I have had a choice in everything. I have had my chances to turn away and leave you but I chose not to. I don't want to let you go, so don't blame yourself. If anyone should be blamed, it should be me." Airen caressed her hair and slowly and softly rubbed down her cheeks and wiped away her tears. " Don't cry. Everything will work out. You'll see." Then he sotly kissed her lips.
Emora:
Elena smiled softly and inched closer to him. She leaned her head against his shoulder. "I guess its both our faults..." Elena said and looked up at him. "I'm not as afriad any more... You scared me to death... I thought you had tricked me into believing you were so nice. You've been acting so strange... not saying much when we went to bed... and then last night... and this morning.... I was just afraid you had pretended to be my friend."
She smiled at him. "At least we're together... I would hate to be alone... And at least they want to kill us. I could think of far worst fates," she said and looked at him. "I wonder how long it will be before they come for us again..."
Airen:
"I don't care when they come back," Airen answered,"Ihave everything I need right here in my arms." he laid his head on top of hers and held her close, just enjoying the moment. For while they sat there in silence feeling evey beat of each others hearts, when Airen gently raised her head and whispered,"I love you. And when we escape from this hell I will prove it to you." He kissed her soft lips once again.
Emora:
Elena looked up at him, moving her head away. "Love... love me?" she asked astonished. He loved her. Elena, after getting over the shock looked into his eyes and smiled. "I... I love you too." Her cheeks flushed, though the darkness hid it.
But, how did he plan on proving it to her, she wondered.
Her mind was full of questions. One was how he planned on getting out the place. Was he going to kill his father... and how. His father just got through beating him...
"Oh, how sweet... Will ya'll shut up before I throw up?" a scratchy voice said from outside the room. Elena looked up to see the demon peering through the bars on the outside the room. He grinned showing off his silver fanged teeth that dripped some sort of liquid. "My don't we look good enough to eat... I'm sure the master wouldn't miss you...." He made a strong sort of growling purring sound that Elena couldn't recognize. "After all, he only wants his son..." The demon licked his lips. "And if he doesn't want him... well, I got room for a big meal..."
The door clanged open and in its wake was a huge demon. We're not talking fat... but pure muscle. He stood well over seven feet tall with large hands and arms the size of barrels practically. He had claws that were three inches long and skin so dark red it was almost black. His feet were hooves and he had spiraling horns coming from his head that were a glossy black. His eyes were white, no pupil or color or anything. He looked absolutely horrifying.
He waved his hands and vines popped from the ground wrapping around Airen and tying him tightly to the ground so he couldn't move. Elena began to scream and try and pull the vines off as the demon inches closer, grinning maliciously.
Airen:
"Don't touch her !" Airen growled. The vines that held him burst into flame and turned to ash. Airen jumped to his feet and blasted the demon with fire. Through the smoke Airen could see the demon still stood. He also noticed that behind the demon on the table laid his sword. The demon leaped at him, and Airen dodged, rolled forward, and grabbed his sword. The demon was dumbstruck and Elena caught his attention. He slowly moved towards her again. Airen noticing the demons attraction, leaped in the air, blade and in hand, and smite the demon to the ground. He rushed towards Elena and pulled her close. She was a wreck. "Alright this might be our last chance. Let's hope we mae it." They moved towards the great hall entrance and to thier all of the demon guards lay dead on the floor. Airen didn't like this. It was to easy. Anyways, he wasn't waisting any time. They made there way through the the hall and before they made it to the door Airen stopped. He turned around looked around the room. He saw no sign of anyone or anything. "I'll be back for you." he mumbled to himself, and they left the building.
Emora:
The demon was licking his lips and looking at her as Airen when for his sword. He was almost upon her and she was stumbling away. He was so foul looking and ugly! He was reaching for her when Airen struck him to the ground. Elena didn't know if one strike could kill such a large and foul demon.
Elena closed her eyes when Airen pulled her close. She nodded as he held her by the arm and pulled her along with him as they tried once again to make there escape. Once outside she thought they were finally free. But, she had no idea how to get back to town or where a safe place to stay was located. She was afriad they would get lost.
The forest, as they went down the bumpy dark road wih the strange trees with the strange moss hanging from the branches was eerie. She was close to Airen, hugging his arm to her. "Airen, I'm getting very tired of all these demons attacking us...." she said and jumped at the sound of a twig breaking.
She turned her head to the side and there was a swamp with trees in varius places and a peer leading from the spot on the road to a house built on stilts over the swamp water. It was a small shack with no light on. It looked old and rotten, but it was a place to stay...
"Airen... do you think that place is safe to stay in?"
Airen:
"I think it will have to do," he said," We've got to get some rest. Let's go." They walked over and wnt inside the house. It was an old run down place. Not used for years from the looks of it. Cobbwebs hung in every, and mold growing in things." Well lets get settled in for the night. We'll have to go without food til morning when I can kill us some food."
Emora:
Elena looked around the room with a disgusted look. She hated spiders... with a passion. She walked through the small one room house. There was a bed in a corner, a small kitchen with a small table with one chair. A moldy rug... shelves with rotten food and such. It was absolutely nasty. "Do you think we could get captured again and sleep in a nice cell, then escape when we're rested?" she joked and smiled softly at Airen as she tried her best to light a candle.
The full moon made the water shine outside and give off a pale glow that made her skin look smooth and flawless. Her hair shined dimly white like and her pale eyes sparkled.
Airen:
Airen took the candle from elena and wavd his hand over it and it lit. "Here you go!" He looked at the girl and stared. He then walked around the room and checked the corners. Something just didn't feel right to him. He ignored the feeling thinking it was just him being paranoid. He made his way to Elena and put her hands in his. He pulled her close and whispered in her ear, "How did I ever find someone so great? I will never do anything to hurt you again." He kissed her on her velvet cheeks and held her close.
Emora:
Elena smiled at him, tilting her head elegantly. "I think it was I who came to you. You didn't find me," she said and kissed him softly. "I'm a little afriad of sleeping in here... especially in that bed! The gods only know what is in that bed. I hate bugs..."
But, it was all they had at the moment and she guessed it would have to do. They were actually safer here than outside. She walked towards the bed with the candle and pulled all the sheets and things off and through them in the corner, rather wanting to sleep on the matris and nothing someone else had slept in...
Airen:
Airen looked at the bed. It was rather small.I don't think the bed's big enough for the both of us so I'll take the floor." He took off his shirt and used it for a pillow. He laid there thinking about Elena and her beauty. Remembering all of the adventure they have had in the past few months they've known each other.
"Where do you think we should go from here?" he asked.
Emora:
Elena watched him as he took off his shirt and her eyes lingered for a moment and then she turned and climbed onto the bed, lying on her side, facing him. "It doesn't matter to me," she said and smiled. "I'll go where ever you would like to go."
She yawned and curled up. "But, I would prefer a place where you won't go all evil and psychotic on me again..."
Was there a chance of the spell coming back? Would she wake up to find him standing over her going to kill her or do something worst? She didn't want to think about that. So she told herself that he was free from the possessing spell....
Airen:
"I'm sorry," he grumbled mournfully." I have already told you that. What else do you want me to do. I couldn't help what happened, but if your that worried that something like that might happen again. Maybe you should go back to Ighten and leave me alone. I'll take you back to the Border tomorrow, if you would like. I'm sorry." He rolled over on his side faceing away from her."Good night!"
Emora:
" I have already told you that. What else do you want me to do. I couldn't help what happened, but if your that worried that something like that might happen again. Maybe you should go back to Ighten and leave me alone. I'll take you back to the Border tomorrow, if you would like. I'm sorry." He rolled over on his side facing away from her. "Good night!"
Elena sat up slowly after listening to what he said and looked at him. Her heart felt like it had dropped to her feet. "I was only joking..." she whispered so softly that it could barely be heard. She felt like a knot was stuck in her throat.
Elena swallowed hard and rolled over on her back, staring up at the ceiling. She could hear the water crash against the polls of the house and the silence in the room. Her heart felt broken that he had said he loved her... and now wanted to be rid of her.
Maybe you should go back to Ighten and leave me alone. That sentence played over and over in her head. Alright Airen... if that’s what you want... I'll leave you alone... And after sleeping for a while she woke in the middle of the night, while Airen was sleeping. She walked to the door and outside, walking across the rickety peer alone. Leaving him to what he seemed to want. Her heart felt torn to pieces. But, it was what he wanted.
Airen:
When Airen woke there was a little light outside. He rolled over to look at Elena, regretting the way he had acted that night, but she wasn't there. He jumped to his feet. "Where had she gone." he thought,"Why would she leave." He rushed out of the house and began hollaring,"Elena! Elena! Where are you?" but there was no answer. He fell to his knees and began to weep."What have I done? It's all my fault! I must find her before something horrible happens to her. He rushed back into the house and grabbed his sword. He then ventured off into the forest. He called for her and searched high and low but had no luck. He looked until he fell out on the ground. "Elena!" he whispered,"Where are you?" And there he laid weeping himself to sleep.
Emora:
Elena wondered during the night, pulling her cloak around her tightly. She was so tired... But, she didn't want to stop. She wanted to get away from the creepy forest. She stumbled and caught herself before she fell.
She paused, thinking she heard someone yelling her name. But, then again anything could happen in these woods. She heard something coming towards her and before she knew it a whole armada of soldiers appeared. Elena jumped back with a yelp and fell into a mud puddle. She sat there staring up at a man on a horse with a helmet on. He was looking at her. "My... what is a girl like you doing out all alone..."
Elena stood up and tried to dust herself off... but there wasn't anything but mud and it clung to her clothing and her hair and her skin. She felt very emberassed. "I... I was going for a walk..."
"Well, let us take you back to the camp with us," he said smiling, getting off his horse and walking towards her. He was a nice looking man, even if he did work for the Arken army. "I'm sure Lady Deadry as something you can put on..." He smiled again. "If you will allow me?"
Elena looked at him warrily for a moment and then nodded. He helped her onto his horse and they were off for the army camp not to far off....
Airen:
Airen woke to a cloudy sky. The air was thick and hard to breathe. Airen stood up and looked around. All that he saw were trees. he thought a moment trying to recall what had happened. He wondered around the woods not knowing where he was at or where he was going. He soon found himself on a narrow trail. He followed it a little ways, and started to call for Elena when he heard what sounded like hoof beats coming towards him. He jumped to the side of the trail and ducked in the bushes. When they passed by, he saw Elena on one of the lead horses. "What was Elena doing at the head of the Arken military." Airen thought. Did she have some dark secret past he didn't know about. When they all had passed Airen follwed them to thier camp to try and find out what was going on. When they arrived he sat in the bushes watching them eat. Hiis stomach knotted with hunger. But he sat and waited to see what was going to happen.
Emora:
OOC: You can control any of the NPCs you'd like.
IC: The tall guard that had given her the ride was named Dimacar. He was a general or something and they were escorting Lady Deadry to Arroes to meet the Lord of Arroes, her betrothed. The woman was older than Elena by a few years, around twenty six. The lady greeted her at first with a bit of hesitance, but then she just became so friendly.
"Oh, oh yes!" the woman said and smiled. "I have plenty of things for this poor girl to wear. Oh, child what happened to you!" The woman pulled her into the large tent and Elena looked behind her at Dimacar who was chuckling and turning away.
The woman gave her a bowl of warm water to wash with and a deep blue garment. She left and said she would return in a few minutes, she had something better to do. Elena washed quickly, not feeling comfortable about bathing in a tent. And she washed her muddy hair and brushed the tangles out of it.
Five minutes later after she was dressed you could hear her talking with the woman. "I can't!" Elena's voice said from inside the tent.
"Why, you look beautiful!"
"I... I can't... I don't wear things like this!" she said and stopped. "Its not that I'm not thankful ma'am...."
"You look fine..."
The woman practically dragged Elena from the tent. When she came out she was dressed in deep blue garment that the woman had given her. It was a top that came just bellow her breasts and stopped, it was sleeveless and over the top went a blue see through jacket that went to her feet. She wore a deep blue long skirt and a part of blue slippers.
"Its what every woman of noble blood wears in Arken..."
"I don't have noble blood," Elena said.
"Well, its all I have," the woman said and smirked.
Elena sighed and nodded. "Thank you."
"Well, lets go and get something to eat!"
Airen:
Airen gazed at Elena as she stepped out of the tent. He was astounded. At first he couldn't move, and then all of a sudden he thoughtlessly jumps out of the bushes in front of her and tries to cover her up. About 20 seconds later he has about 15 swords in his face. He was dumbfounded.
Emora:
Elena was confused when a strange blur came out of no where and started trying to cover her up with anything... even himself! She had no idea who he was at first because he was all on top of her. She heard the sounds of blades being drawn and when she looked up they had the man surrounded. Elena finally was able to see who it was. "Airen?!" she asked and Deadry looked back and forth between the two. "Please... lower your weapons..."
Deadry looked at her. "You know this boy?" she asked.
"Yes...."
"Whats going on here?" Dimacar asked and stepped into the circle they had made. "Lady Deadry, whats going on?"
"This man came out of no where and... and... and just what were you doing?" Deadry asked slightly confused.
Airen:
"What does it look like i'm doing?" Airen responded," I'm covering her up. I don't want a bunch of strange men seeing my girl like this." he through a quick glance at Elena catching on to what he had said." I mean...uhh... what was I saying." He looked away from Elena so that they wouldn't make eye contact. He was embarassed because of what he had said.
Emora:
Dimacar looked at Elena, scanning her up and down and then looked at Airen. "I see nothing wrong with the way she's dress. She looks fine to me..."
Elena was looking right at Airen, not even hearing what Dimacar had said. His girl? "Your girl? Your girl?! I seem to remember being told to go back to Ighten and leave you alone!" Elena said and put her hands on her hips. "I belong to any one."
Elena turned and pushed through the wall of soldiers, a smirk coming to her lips. His girl? He wanted her to be his girl? How sweet... But, that doesn't explain the fact he had told her to leave him alone. "Sir Dimacar? Will you allow my friend to go please? He won't cause you any trouble..."
"Hell, I'm more afraid of that temper you got than I am of what he'll do. I'm sure the feeling is mutual with him..." Dimacar said and chuckled. He walked to Airen and patted him on the back. "A piece of advice... Don't call a woman 'your girl'. They don't like to think there owned, even if you do have them in the sack." He winked and turned to walk back to his dinner.
Airen:
Airen watched Elena as she walked away. "Come on, lad." said Dimacar," You can worry about that little beauty after you get a full stomach. Hehe.. Come on, let's eat." Airen went smiled and went with Dimacar. After he ate he got washed and went to find Elena. He found her in the main tent with Lady Deadry. It was a nice set up. She had all kinds of things like: a nice bed, little tables and all kinds of little things. Lady Deadry noticied him standing outside of the tent and asked," What are you doing out there my boy? Is there something you need?"
" I wish to talk to Elena, if she'll listen to what I have to say." Airen said.He gave Elena a soft tender look hoping she would would hear him out.
Emora:
Elena looked to Deadry and rose from her chair, walking towards the edge of the tent. She was still dressed in the clothing that had been given to her. It made her feel uncomfortable still. She stepped out as a soft gentle breeze blew. She could hear the sound of marry men drinking the night away and partying.
"Yes, Airen?" she asked softly, smiling at him. She glanced down at the ground and looked herself over, rather emberassed at being half dressed.
She noticed Dimacar was watching them from far off for a moment and then turned back to his friends, laughing and takling.
Airen:
Airen also noticed Dimacar's glance, but he didn't acknowledge it. "Let's go for a walk." he said. He grabbed her by the hand and they went outside the campground. "Elena ! I was so worried about you when you ran off. I had no idea why you would do such a thing and then it occured to me . I was a jerk to you and I had no right doing what I did. I searched everywhere for you and called for you but there was no answer. I just wanted to apologize and tell you how sorry I was and that I never want you to leave me."
Emora:
Elena smiled softly, swallowing hard as he brought up the memory of that night when she had felt as if her heart had been ripped from her chest. "Its alright... Its my fault. I was joking and I guess I shouldn't joke about such things," Elena said looking down as he held her hand. "I'm sorry... I shouldn't have run off and made you worry. I should have stayed. I promise I won't run off again.... I just thought you didn't want me to be around you anymore..."
She looked up with her sparkling violet eyes and smiled softly. She then moved quickly and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
Airen:
Airen embracing the hug held her tightly. He held her in his arms for a few moments and when she went to let go, he pulled her back and gave her a long slow kiss. " I love you," he said," and I never want to lose you." He stood there holding both of her hands and staring deep into her violet eyes. " I want to stay in this moment forever."
Emora:
Elena looked at Airen and smiled, placing her hand on his cheek. "That would be a wonderful thing... but I'm afraid the world isn't so kind..." Elena's cheeks turned rosy. "I... I love you to Airen..." She kissed his cheek softly. "I think I was meant to come into your shop that day... From the first moment I saw you I think I knew I was going to fall in love with you. Even if your father causes you to turn evil again, I'll trust you to not hurt me... I trust you Airen..." Elena leaned into him, placing her head on his shoulder, shivering slightly.
How noble women ever wore such clothing in Arken she would never understand. It wasn't much to such outfits. She smiled. "I should get back. Deadry and I were discussing marriage customs in Arken. She's betrothed the to the lord in Arroes..."
Airen:
"Alright, I just wanted to get that off my chest. I'll go see about me a place to sleep. Maybe when you and Deadry get through you can find me and we can talk some more and spend some time. Well see ya later!" Airen headed back towards the party.
"where you been lad? asked Dimacar." Your missing all the fun!" He held a a bottle of rum. "Come on! Take a swig." Airen looked at the bottle and then looked at the men. They were a digusting group of people.
" Nah! I'm good," said Airen" I just need a place to sleep."
"Well there's an empty tent over there. We lost a man in a demon battle today." Dimacar replied.
"Thanks" said Airen.
Airen made his way to the tent and went in. The place was a dump, but he couldn't complain. It was better than nothing.Airen noticed some folded covers and a pillow in the back corner of the tent. He unfolded the covers and spreaded one out across the ground and threw the pillow down on it. He then kicked off his shoes and laid down. He thought about how much he missed the blacksmith shop and how much he missed Halmar. He also wondered if Elena was going to show up. He lied awake just thinking and waiting.
Emora:
"Well, that’s horrid!" Elena said as she pulled the blanket tighter around her. "Who decided that that should be one of the rights?"
"Our Lady Queen...." Deadry said and smirked. "I wouldn't dare say a thing about her. I don't mind... the Lord is pretty handsome..." Deadry laughed lightly, taking a swig of wine. "Care for some?"
"No thanks, it will give me nightmares." Elena said and smiled. "I was asked to go see Airen before I went to sleep... Do you mind? I promise not to wake you coming back in."
"Oh, yes, just be careful about going across this dark camp at night. The soldiers get mighty drunk and they don't care what man your with, your just a female to them. I doubt they'll bother you. They would have Dimacar, me, and that young lad of yours to deal with... Might I ask why you are heading to Arroes..."
"Airen was banished from Ighten because he refused to bow to that impersonating witch. Do not believe what you hear, Sinead is not a good and holy queen like everyone is led to believe. I saw it myself... He was being punished for saving me and she ordered him to bow and he was already a little ticked about being punished for saving me and I guess he just didn't want to... So she through him out."
"Why are you in this dreadful place then?"
"I... I came with him. Well, I felt like it was my fault anyway..." Elena said and smiled softly. "Anyways... I'm going to go talk to Airen, I'll be back."
"Here! Take this." Elena caught the cloak that Deadry through at her and placed it over her shoulders. "A good way to tell when it really should be night time is when the temperature drops... Be careful."
Elena nodded and walked out of the tent, stepping into the cold air. Yes, it was a considerable drop in temperature to her. She walked through the camp, passing drunken men as they stumbled to there tents for the night.
"Sir Dimacar... Do you know where I could find Airen?" Elena asked when she spotted the general.
"Aye, lass... He's in that tent over yonder..." Dimacar pointed and then a grin came to his face. She blushed slightly when she thought she caught on to the idea he had. "Have fun..." He slurred and stumbled into his tent.
Elena pushed open the flap of Airen's tent and stepped inside, closing the flap behind her. "Airen?"
Airen:
"I'm here." said Airen sitting up. " I was beginning to wonder if your were onna show up. I'm glad you did. come have a seat." he patted the cover beside him.
Emora:
Elena smiled and sat down beside him in a kneeling lady like fashion. She dropped the cloak behind her, not needing it in the tent. She smiled at him and tilted her head. "So what did you want to talk about?"
Elena brushed her hair from her eyes lightly and turned her attention back to him.
Airen:
"Oh! It was nothing in particular. I just wanted to spend some time with you. It seems that all that we've done since we left Ighten is get into danger or something, and we haven't had much time to spend with each other. " Airen put his hand on her leg and rubbed it softly."Are you staying with me tonight?"

Emora:
Elena looked at him and when she felt his hand on her leg she looked down at his hand, not used to it. She blushed slightly and looked up. ."Are you staying with me tonight?" he asked and she smiled softly.
"Oh... erm... I told Deadry I would be back.... She might get worried if she wakes up and finds I'm gone," Elena said softly, moving so she was sitting on her side and propping up with one of her hands. "Besides, I have a feeling that if I step out of this tent in the morning you'll never hear the end of it from Dimacar."
Elena smiled and looked into his eyes. "I like talking," Elena said. "Its better than running and screaming..."
Airen:
"Yeah me, too." said Airen"I really wish you would stay so that we could talk all night." He looked at her and smiled. "I really do wish you would stay, but we'll talk about that later. So, what were you doing with this group of people, anyway?"
Emora:
Elena smiled. Maybe it woudln't be so bad if she stayed with him... She felt rather odd sleeping in a tent with a person she had only known a day anyway.
"They sort of ran into me... Well, almost. Dimacar is the one who found me. He accidently startled me into falling into a mud puddle so he offered to take me back to this camp to get cleaned up. Nice man... its amazing he is in the Arken Army... the most feared and evil army in the world." Elena looked at Airen and smiled.
Deadry's tent was very different from this one. She had furniture and such and fure on the floors that you could lie on. This one didn't have much, but it would do to sleep in. She wouldn't mind staying with Airen... She felt more safe with him than anyone at the camp anyway. "How did you find us?"
Airen:
"While I was out looking for you, I stumbled onto a trail and heard someone coming so I hid in the brush until y'all passed, and when I saw you on one of the horses it confused me so I followed y'all to see what was going on." Airen rubbed her leg and looked into her eyes," I'm glad we're back together." He then brushed her hair back with his hands and proceeded to kiss her but only went part of the way to see if she would come to him.
Emora:
Elena smiled, though still a bit uncomfortable with his hand on her leg. She ignored it, knowing she had nothing to worry about with him. He wouldn't hurt her. She leaned into his kiss as he leaned forward, pressing her lips to his. Elena had never felt such a way about a man before. She had never been treated so kindly by one either.
Elena smiled at him, easing closer to him and kissing him again. "Well, I'm glad you did... I was really stupid for running away..."
Airen:
" Well let's not talk about the past.Let's concentrate on the present." Airen pulled her to him and kissed her softly on the neck. "We don't have to do this if you're not ready." Airen said softly, lifting his head and looking into her eyes.
Emora:
She closed her eyes and smiled as he kissed her neck. His lips were soft on her skin. Do what?! Elena screamed in her head, looking at him with alarmed eyes. Then they softened and she looked at him. What if he gets disappointed in me? What if...
"I... er... It's alright...." she whispered, lying down next to him and looking up at him. "I'll tell you if I feel uncomfortable..." Her violet eyes sparkled. It wasn't the fact she didn't want to... Well, it was part of that. But, she was nervous about disappointing him. She was afraid of what was going to happen and of many other things.
"I trust you Airen...." Elena said, leaning up and kissing him softly.
Airen:
Airen rubbed his hands through her soft hair as they kissed. He laid her down slowly and leaned up over her propping up on his elbow. He softly touched her on the shoulder with his fingers. He thought about what was about to happen and began to wonder if it was really what he wanted to do. He kissed her once again and and slowly moved down her neck.
Emora:
Elena closed her eyes as they kissed. She was so nervous she was trembling. She ran her fingers through his hair as he kissed her and touched her shoulder lightly. She loved him, she really did. But, she didn't know if she was ready. He started to kiss her neck again, and though his kisses were soft and welcomed she was still feeling some dread. She swallowed hard as he kissed lower down her neck and finally she grabbed his hands. "Airen, stop please..." she whispered and glanced at him. "I'm sorry..."
Elena pulled the see through jacket to cover her half naked body. Maybe it was the outfit, but she still felt as if she had no clothes on. The see through jacket didn't help either since it was see through. "I'm sorry, I can't.... I'm not ready... I'm sorry..." Her cheeks were red and flushed, but not as much from embarrassment... "I love you... I do.... but I don't think I'm ready yet..."
Airen:
" It's alright," said Airen careingly," I love you too, and you don't have to apologize. I want to wait til your ready. I really care about how you feel." Airen scooted over towards her and hugged her tightly and whispered," I love you with all my heart and making you feel uncomfortable around me is the last thing I want to do."
Deep down Airen was glad she wasn't ready because he didn't think he was ready either he let out a sigh of relief and just held her close with a lot of tender loving care.
Emora:
Elena smiled and curled up in his arms, closing her eyes and resting her head on his chest.. Her arms went across her chest as his arms were wrapped around her holding her in a protective gentle emberace.
"Good night," she whispered softly to him as she began to fade into darkness, falling peacefully a sleep in his arms. She had forgot about the fact she was supposed to go back to Deadry and sleep in her tent, but it wasn't as if it would make a big difference.
In the morning Dimacar opened the flap to there tent and only saw Airen at first. "Hey, boy! Time to get up, we're movin' out...." Then his eyes saw the small form curled up with him under the thick blanket. "Or do you need a few more minutes?" He asked, winking. Elena yawned and opened her eyes, the sound of jumbled words feeling her ears.
Airen:
Airen lifted his head and looked at Dimacar as he opened the flap. " I'll be out in a moment." Airen said. Dimacar noded and closed the flap.
Airen glanced over at Elena. She was facing the side of the tent away from him. He stared at her in her majesty and grace. He noticed he Yawning and put his arm around her. " Good morning, beautiful!" Airen said as he softly kissed her on the shoulder. "Did you sleep well?"
Emora:
Elena rolled over in his arms to face him, smiling at him as she looked into his eyes. "I did," she said in a soft gentle whisper, still slightly tired from just waking up. She kissed his lips softly. "Did you?"
The sound of the camp being packed up and moved out could be heard all around them. "Lad, if you and your lady don't hurry up I'm afriad your tent and you will be folded up together." Dimacar laughed lightly from outside the tent.
Airen:
"We're coming," said Airen. He kissed Elena softly on the lips then jumped up and put on his clothes. "Well, I guess I'll see you in a minute." He blew her a kiss and stepped out of the tent. When he stepped out of the tent, he noticed that everything was packed up except for a few tents, thiers included.
"Well, hurry up and eat, lad. Breakfast is over there." Dimacar said, pointing towrds the fire where a plate of sausage sat on a stump. Airen went over and ate and waited on Elena.
Emora:
Elena stood up, fixing the clothing that Lady Deadry had given to her. She ran a hand through her slightly curly long golden hair. She didn't like the clothing, how it was so indecent and revealing compared to anything she had ever worn. She left the tent and walked towards where everyone was eating. Lady Deadry smiled at her.
"I really didn't expect you to come back last night after you told me Airen wanted to talk." Deadry said and smiled.
"Oh, we didn't do anything..." Elena whispered, blushing.
"Oh really?" Deadry asked, taking a bite of her breakfast. "Well, if not last night I bet sometimes soon." Deadry laughed lightly and finished her food.
Elena just kept smiling and eating, not saying anything. She knew Deadry was probably right.
It wasn't long before everything was packed away on carriages and horse backs and the soldiers were lined up in unison. "Hey, lad, want to ride at the front with me?" Dimacar asked Airen. "I'm sure the ladies will be riding in Lady Deadry's coach."
Airen:
Airen looked at Dimacar then looked at over at Elena. "Sure!" he said. Dimicar whistled and a man brought up a beautiful black stallion. It had a shiny black coat and a thick silky mane that flowed down the side of its neck. "This is Midnight." said Dimacar," Gorgeous creature, he is. Needs a good owner to take care of him. He's yours."
Airen gazed upon the creature. He had never seen a horse so beautiful. Airen never expected such beuty to be found in Arken. He never expected the people to be so kind either. It seemed to him that Arken was full of surprises. "Thanks," he said as he took the horse and hopped up on him to get the feel of it.
Emora:
Elena walked with Deadry towards her coach and a soldier opened the door for them, holding out his hand to help them aboard. Elena took a seat opposite of Deadry and smiled as she opened the curtain to shed some light. "Ever road in a coach?"
"No," Elena said and smiled softly. "I got to clean it, but never ride in one."
"You were a maid?" Deadry asked, smiling. "It seems out of place for a woman who walks with such dignity and grace." Deadry said, appraising Elena. "You walk like a lady from a court in some kingdom."
"Well, I'm not," Elena said and smiled.
Dimacar started riding off with all his soldiers following him and the carriages, carts, and Lady Deadry's coach behind them. "Hopefully we won't run into any trouble today. I'm to lazy to fight at the moment," Dimacar said light heartedly.
Airen:
"I'm to lazy to fight at the moment." Dimacar said light heatedly. As soon as he finished his sentence a band of thieves jumped out of the trees and bushes. The horses rared up and whinnied. The caravan was surrounded."What is the meaning of this?" yelled Dimacar as he calmed his horse. Airen glanced around at the strangers snatching and pulling on his reigns. There was at least 40 of them dressed in all black with masks covering thier faces .
The bandits moved in towards them, swords in hand. Dimacar feeling threatened hollard,"Attack!" The men drew thier swords and and attacked. ":Protect the Lady. Don't let them near the carriages!"Dimacar yelled.
Airen drew his sword and helped fight off the attackers. One by one the bandits fell. Dimacar lost six men, but that wasn't good, for he only had 21 to fight with him; and he knew that an attack like that was common in these parts and he couldn't aford to get into to many brawls of this sort. He also knew that there were much larger bandit groups and much more powerful ones.
After the quarrel Dimacar had his men pick up there fellow soldiers and pile thier carcases. Dimacar belived in burning the bodies of his soldiers because he thought the soil was far to foul for his men to be buried in.So. they piled the bodies and burned them, and then they scattered the ashes around the trail. They finally got moving again and Airen rode up beside Dimacar.
"You fought well today, son," said Dimicar to Airen. "I don't know how I will ever repay you for saving my life back there. If you hadn't killed that rat behind me I would be in those ashes scattered out around the trail."
"All that I ask for,"Airen replied,"is your friendship. And I hope that you would also have my back when I am in need."
"Of course I'll have your back ,my boy." Dimicar said and there on out they rode in silence.
Emora:
Elena and Deadry became very alarmed at the sounds of metal clanging together and words of attack and screaming. "What in the-" Deadry whispered as the carriage began to rock back and forth.
The door flew open and someone with a black mask covering there face tried to climb into the carriage with them. Elena stood up and kicked them in the forehead and they fell out. She slammed the door and held it shut so no one else could try and get in.
"Does this happen often?" Elena asked and tilted her head.
"No, well.. sometimes... I guess its happening a lot lately because of the union between my family and Stephen's..." Deadry said and sat back as it seemed things began to die down.
"Should we go out?"
"No... the best thing to do is stay in here that way if there are any attackers out they can't shoot from the forest and get you..."
"Well, there after you, not me..." Elena said smiling.
"Yes, but some have no idea what I look like and your dressed in my clothes... so they might mistake you for me... We do have the same hair color..." Deadry said and smiled, her dark eyes looking at me. "Though, mine is far more straighter."
"I wonder if anyone got hurt... Deadry... Airens out there... I have to see if he got hurt..." Elena said and opened up the door. "I'll be back... I promise..."
Elena stepped out of the coach and looked around. She saw Airen up a head riding along with Dimacar.
Little did they know they were being watched in the bushes by an enemy that stalked its prey with stealth and skill. Taking aim and waiting for the perfect moment. "Airen! What happened? Is anyone hurt?"
She began running towards Airen at the moment the killer took aim and fired. The arrow missed its target and slammed into her shoulder causing her to cry out and fall forward.
Airen:
Hearing the scream Airen and Dimacar snatched thier horses around quickly. Airen immediately saw Elena on the ground and rushed to her. He jumped off of his horse, picked her up, and carried her quickly to the carriage. He slung open the door and laid her inside,"Get this arrow out of her." he told Deadry,"I'll be back in a moment."
He closed the carriage door and peered into the brush. He spotted a tall figure running from tree to tree hiding in the shadows. He glanced over at Dimacar and noticed he was preparing his men for battle. Airen had an unsettling feeling about this. something didn't feel right. Dimacar and his men glared into the woods trying to see through the darkness, but they could see nothing. Airen continued to watch the the man or ceature in the darkness waiting for it to make a mistake. The flame in his heart was burning brightly. He had shot the woman he loved and they must suffer his wrath.
A few moments passed and thier was silence all around. Airen lost sight of the man but kept his gaze fixed on the woodline. "Keep your guard," Airen yelled to Dimacar and his men. "They are still out there." Dimacar threw a quick glance to him, and Airen saw something in his Dimacar's eyes he had never seen before.Fear. Dimacar didn't like not knowing his enemy. He liked to know who and what he was fighting.
All of a sudden the silence broke with the whistling of a hoard of arrows. Men began to drop like flies. Then out of the bushes came a whole clan of demons blades drawn. The men that remained drew thier swords and attacked. "Aaahhhh...." they yelled as they mt thier enemy head on. Dimacar found himself fighting beside Airen in the midst of the battle. "We cannot win this fight," Airen called out to Dimacar.
"We willl not yield to these heathenistic bastards," he responded as he cut through one demon after another. "Stand fast, men. Don't back down. We must protect the lady at all costs."
The battle raged on; men and demons lying everywhere. The demon stampede finally deceased and Airen, Dimacar, and two of his men were all that survived of the warriors. Airen rushed to the carriage to check on the women. He snatched open the door and found them both lying, bleeding on the floor. "Come help me," he called to Dimacar. " The women are hurt." He pulled Elena out of the carriage and laid her gently on the ground. Dimacar laid Lady Deadry beside her. Elena was still alive. She had only taken the arrow in the shoulder. As for Lady Deadry there was no hope. An arrow flew through the window of the carriage and stuck in her chest. She lived her last moments in Dimacars arms unable to speak. Elena on the other hand, lied on Airen stunned by what hapened to Deadry. Airen, Dimacar, and his two men gathered the bodies of thier fallen comrades and piled them away from the horried demons. Airen had removed the arrow from Elena's shoulder and laid her back in the carriage. Lady Deadry's arrow was removed and she was wrapped in a silky, gold cloth and laid back in the carriage with Elena. Dimacar wouldn't dare burn his lady on the ground. He wanted to take her to Arroes and set her high up on a pyre. After burning the bodies of thier fellow men, they set out again. Airen and Dimacar lead the way on horseback while the two men drove the carriage. No words were said between Airen and Dimacar, but thier was an unspeakable bond between them.
Emora:
Elena cried out when Airen pulled the arrow from her shoulder. She soon fell into darkness and passed out in Airen’s arms as he placed her back in the carriage. Blood pored from the wound, staining the seat of the carriage.
“We must get to Arroes as soon as possible. Your woman needs the wound stitched up… and my lady needs a burial..” Dimacar mounted his horse. “If you want to ride with her I won’t mind… If you don’t I’ll put one of my men in there… to make sure she is alright and comfortable.”
It was on to Arroes...

" The women are hurt."
