(Lore) Recovering

The shores of Ighten are beautiful beaches with white sand, palm trees, shacks and houses with people that live along it. It's also an easy way for Arken people to enter Ighten, since it is more or less unguarded. Sometimes wrecked ships wash ashore.

Neko stopped her rough housing with Kratos and watched Laya with concerned eyes.

"Laya... would you like to go up there?" Neko asked her, pointing to where Telanis said. "I could come with you if you want?"

"I don't know.." Kratos added, uneasy. "If we were to go out in the open, any one of us... they might find Telanis."

"But do they know he can become human?" Neko countered and looked at Telanis for the answer.

Laya looked at them, questions filling her mind. Her trust seemed to have died upon entering the cave. To many problems happened in caves... She looked to Neko. She shook her head. Maybe if she got out for a little while she could calm down. But, being stuck in the cave with three people she didn't know at all...

Why should she feel this way towards Telanis... he had done nothing but try and help her. Was it his human form? Because he had turned into a man. She could curse Kron over and over for creating such a paranoia in her. Telanis was the same being... just not the same looks.

Telanis watched Laya thoughtfully. "It should be safe above, if you want to go there," he offered again to assure that he wouldn't take offense. He still wasn't sure about these strangers himself, but for the time being, trusting them was all he could do. "I'm sorry...I might rest for just a short while," he said faintly, lying stiffly down on his side curled into a 'U' with his back facing the humans. With an uneven breath, he finally let go of consciousness and fell into a healing sleep where the pain could slowly fade. He was too far gone to notice the faint sounds of someone approaching outside.

Laya stood up and followed his instructions on how to get to the upper level. She walked stiffly as if expecting anything to jump out at her. When she finally reached a spot less closed in above where Telanis was she let out a sigh. She wished she could be less paranoid.

She leaned against the wall, staring out at the openness beyond.

Neko went to follow Laya but Kratos held her back, his eyes still on Telanis. "No. Leave her be for now. If anything we should protect Telanis and make sure no hunters come." Neko nodded, agreeing but wishing she could go reassure Laya on whatever she was troubled by.

As Telanis slept, you could visually see the holes in his side and shoulder healing, the edges of the wound slowly shrinking until, ten minutes later, all that remained were two faint pink spots on his skin. The pained expression on his face gave way to one of peaceful innocence. He began to show signs of waking, reaching absently to his waist to feel where his wound had been. His eyes drifted open sleepily, not yet registering where he was.

Laya slide down the side of the wall and rested her head on her knees, closing her eyes. She felt rather tired, but crying usually made her tired.

She didn't want to fall a sleep though. Why did she feel so much mistrust all of the sudden... Laya felt weight on her again... and she wanted that weight off... But, she didn't want to bore anyone with her stupid story... She was whore. That was all there was to it. No one would like her if they knew the truth...

Neko and Kratos sat idily within the cave. Waiting for whenever Telanis would wake up, and tense for whatever danger might come through.

Telanis remembered the hunt with a start and his eyes widened cautiously. When the first thing he saw was the stone wall of the cave, he remembered what had happened and looked down at his human form somewhat sadly. It would take some time for him to gather enough energy to return to his true state. He pushed up with his strange human hands to a sitting position and looked back at Kratos and Neko. The other human was absent; he supposed she had gone up above.

He turned to Neko and Kratos with a friendly expression, though looking somewhat lost in his thoughts. "Thank you for carrying me," he said to Talon with a faint grin, "If not for you, I'd probably have been killed. I'm sorry I put you both in danger." He touched his side carefully to remind himself that he was healed. "If I may ask, though, what were you doing out there in the first place?"

Tetsumaru finished his treck over to the cave. He sheathed his katana out of pure reflex before calling out "Izu anyone inu there!?" when he got near to it. He waited for a response from the cave, and hoping there really was someone there.

Telanis's attention flashed suddenly to the exit of the cave. He rose to his feet and moved silently toward the exit to peer out at the owner of the voice he'd just heard. A single old man was standing outside, apparently alone. Was this a trick? He thought of Laya up above the cave. If the hunters had found this place, they may have found her too. He looked pointedly at Kratos and Neko, as if to say "Is that someone you know?" There were so many humans around...though he wanted to trust them, the unicorn had the unshakeable feeling that there were arrows pointed at him from every direction. They had helped him, but why were they here?... Being trapped in this alien body suddenly alarmed him; it was clumsy and unfamiliar.

Laya's head came up quickly at hearing the voice and she moved to her feet, her heart pounding loud in her chest. She backed backwards further into the cave.

Maybe if we're quiet they won't come in... Maybe they'll think no one is in here and pass it by. Please... pass it by....

Talon looked out at the stranger again. He looked harmless, and his aura was pure. Maybe he was lost? Or was it a trap? In any case, he clearly had detected the cave, and if there was a trap, there was no point in getting the others caught as well. He should go out to the stranger himself. It was possible he wouldn't even be recognized in his current form, though there was something about Telanis, even in this form, that gave an impression subtly but distinctively different from a human.

Telanis turned back into the cave, glancing at Laya who had returned. He was glad she was safe. He picked the pants she had handed him earlier up from the floor and leaned against the wall to put them on. They hung slightly loose on his hips, and he didn't even bother with the button, but he got them on. "I'm going to speak to him," he said calmly, walking barefoot out of the cave. He kept an eye on his surroundings for any sign of hunters as he stepped out into the light and walked toward Tetsumaru. "Hello, sir," he spoke as he thought a human would.

Tetsumaru looked relieved. "Goodo, zere WAZU somuone there," he started saying. "I sought zose voisies I hearudo were insido my headu foru a momento." The samurai gave a friendly smile.

"Say, I'mu uh..." he drifted off for a bit as he lost his train of thought. "I'mu rosto! Zat's what I amu aran't I?" he half said aloud and half mumbled.

Telanis blinked at the stranger curiously. "Well, perhaps I can point you toward your destination?" he offered carefully. "Have you been traveling long?" He still sensed no sign of danger around him.
