Lore: A Battle of Good and Evil

This is the forest that covers most of Ighten in dense and thick trees. It is the oldest forest in Heirot, since most of the Forests in Arken have been destroyed. It is well known as a haunted forest where ghosts and demons reside. In the forest are many villages. The villagers will tell you tales of trees that eat people, gaint spiders, and dragon lairs.

With the last goodbyes being said, the five companions departed. This would be Carnthir's first trip out of the forest, and it would be his chance to make a name for himself like he'd always dreamed about. Ever since his mother had read him stories of great heroes, Carnthir had wanted to get out into the world and make his own name known.

"We will head east to the river and then follow it north to the border from there." Carnthir told his comrades... his friends.

Thomas kept a vigil eye about him. His senses told him nothing was here. There was always something, however, waiting for them. It would be a last minute thing, when you think that everything's okay. Still, it seemed that everything was okay so far.

The morning sun rose quickly as they walked through the forest. Though it was in the Kingdom of Light, the Ashgrown Forest was anything but nice and pleasant. Dark beings trapped in Ighten by the border lurked in all the corners of the extensive woodland. Carnthir and his brothers didn't fear the creatures though. They knew all of these timbers like the back of their hand, and knew how to use every tree and bush to their advantage.

The air about the travelers remained quiet for a long while, but finally Coia broke the silence, "What was your purpose in these woods in the first place Thomas?" he asked as he continued walking. The elves steps were light and nimble even in the slow pace at which they tracked.

Thomas looked up, "I really had no purpose here. I was just passing through to go from one town to the next. That was until I when I saw a band of drow, and then one thing led to another. Now I am here." The thief continued his vigil eye while this went on.

Carnthir noticed his new friend keeping a very keen eye, "That is good," he said. "It is always good to be aware of your surroundings... However, I can assure you there is nothing to fear here." Carnthir and his brothers did not just live in the forest. They were part of it. They knew everything that was in it that wasn't supposed to be. That's how they always knew of the drow when they would attack.

Thomas looked at him, smiling, "That's a relief. One can never be too careful in this world. But I trust your word, Carnthir." He stopped keeping a vigil eye, but took the time to watch the scenery. It was a beautiful day, even with the mission before them. The trees were tall, with the leaves a lush green, keeping it nice and comfortable from the sun. Some of the woodland animals came to watch them. One, in fact, a fox of sorts, kept following them, seeming to know the elves but was curious about the human.

Carnthir heard the patter of footsteps that followed close behind. He stopped and knelt to the ground. With a whistle from the elf, the fox ran to his side. Carnthir and his kindred smiled at the canine as it held a watchful gaze on the human.

""It's quite alright," Carnthir assured Thomas. "I believe he is the one who's had you distracted." He petted the foxes neck.

The fox was obviously enjoying the treatment he was getting from the elf. Apparently, Carnthir and this fox knew each other, or the fox knew the elves as friends. Thomas asked, "I take it this isn't the first time you've met this fox.

((I would think it'd be nice to have a little woodland friend lying around somewhere ^-^))
