Lore: Finding Home...

This is the Border that most of the people in Arken want to cross. People in Ighten are not allowed to cross it unless under orders by the Queen herself. The mountain is always covered in snow.

Siren was glad that the day's ride was short, since she was still getting used to riding on the back of a horse. Still, the mare was gentle with her and only spooked if she moved her wings around too much.

Siren secured her horse and went over to where Mizuki was trying to set up the tent, picking up Blade and trying to distract him for her so she could set up the tent.

Rai ran around the clearing chasing a bright yellow butterfly. She giggled, jumping up and down. Toby curled up and watched with tired eyes. Unlike some people he didn't have a smooth horse ride.

Mizuki giggled and thanked Siren for taking care of Blade for her while she set up the tent. Blade took an interest into Siren's wings and flexed his own.

"Bings!" Blade cooed, trying to say 'wings'. He pointed to Siren's wings as she held him. Blade smiled and laughed, saying 'Bings' over and over. Mizuki smiled at her son while she worked at building one of the tents.

Soran had walked off to gather some firewood, and now returned with a decent pile of dry logs to get a fire started. He left them in the center of the camp and noticed Mizuki attempting to put a tent up by herself.

"What's this?" he asked blankly. He knew, or course, that it was a tent, but he hadn't known they had brought any.

"Hmm?" Mizuki looked up at Soran as she busied herself with hamaring down one side. Her hair was in her eyes, but it still made her look strangely beautiful with messy hair. "What? Did you expect me to sleep out in the open with Blade?" she teased, smiling.

"I guess not," Soran acquiesced, somewhat distracted by watching Mizuki work. He caught himself spacing out and moved to help Mizuki, raising the center pole and holding it steady while she drove the stakes in. As she worked in the fading sunlight, she made a different impression on Soran than anyone else had. He'd seen so many woman doing the same types of things, but with this woman, as usual, something just felt different. He narrowed his eyes thoughtfully as he watched her, then looked back down at the task at hand. He'd had a random thought again. Lately, it seemed like he lost part of his mind whenever he was around her. He pushed it to the back of his thoughts. As the last of the stakes were driven in, he stood up and looked at the tent approvingly. "Looks like a tent to me," he commented dully, turning to go get the fire started.

"Looks like a tent to me,"Soran commented dully. Mizuki giggled and smirked, standing back to admire her handy work. She glanced at her son who seemed to be having a grand ol' time with Siren, so she sigh and stretched. She had to put up another one for Soran, so they had their own privacy. But first she grabbed her canteen and took a long gulp. When she finished she recapped it and brought out Soran's tent. She'd do it whether he wanted her to or not.

Mizuki glanced at Soran as he started the camp fire and a slight blush crept up her cheeks.

Rai giggled and skipped into the woods slightly, following the lovely butterfly. "So pretty! Come back!" she called after it, laughing as she tried to catch it.

Mizuki looked up from her work on the other tent just in time to see Rai almost dissapear from the camp.

"Rai! Don't wander off too far please! I don't want you lost in the woods!" Mizuki called to her.

Siren held blade up in the air by his armpits, smiling at him as he stretched out his wings as if he would fly away that instant. Of course it was still a bit too early for that, but this was the part she loved most about babies, when they first learn to spread their wings and test out the air.

She spun in slow circles, laughing along with Blade as the air played through his feathers.

Soran soon had a small flame kindling among the logs, and turned back to see what Mizuki was up to. Seeing the tent parts lying on the ground, he realized she was planning to put one up for him. "I don't need one," he told her, "I'm accustomed to sleeping in the open, and it will be difficult to keep watch from inside."

He looked toward the woods where Rai had run off disapprovingly. "Rai! Mizuki's right! Get back here now!" he shouted clearly through the trees, so that the child certainly heard him. Soran knew these woods too well to think that their failure to come across any enemies thus far was anything other than very good luck.

Mizuki mockingly glared at Soran, a smirk on her lips. "Well, I'll build another one anyway. Siren may need one because of her wings." she told him as a matter-of-factly.

Blade loved to be spun around and he laughed and giggled loudly. He stretched his for now useless wings to feel more air between his black feathers. Mizuki smiled at the two and was about to go back to work when Blade's tummy rummbled and he began to fuss. Mizuki sighed and put down her tools and went over to Siren and gently pryed his squriming form out of her hands before he kicked her by accident.

"Now, now.." she scolded him softly. "That's not nice. If you're hungry say "Hungry."" Blade watched his mother intently.

"Hungy." he mimmicked and Mizuki nodded, smiling more. "Hungy! Hungy!"

"Ok, ok! I'm going to go feed him." Mizuki called to the others and went over to a tree and sat down at it's base. She made it a point to face the other way as she undid her shirt and let Blade attach himself to her breast and suckle. She sighed contently and watched the field grass and the sky turn gold against the sun as it slowly went down, beyond the horizon.

Rai looked back towards the camp and then at the pretty butterfly. She wanted to follow the pretty butterfly... Look! She thought and grinned. There was another brightly colored. It wouldn't hurt to go a bit further... and I'll go back.....

Rai grinned and giggled as she skipped a few more feet into the forest. The brightly colored butterfly landed just beyond a bush in the clearing.

Soran was unpacking supplies to make dinner from a sack when he found he needed something from the one of the saddlebags. "Rai, can you check the stallion's bag for a pan," he said without a second thought. Hearing no response, he looked around for the little girl, but she wasn't to be found.

The rogue frowned and stood up as he saw that Rai had not come back. "I'll be back in a minute," he said flatly to Siren, walking in the direction he'd seen Rai wander off. As he walked a distance away from the camp, he could hear Rai's footsteps, carelessly noisy, running in the woods ahead. His frown deepened and he sped up to pursue her silently. If she knew the kind of danger her noise was capable of attracting, she would not be taking the risk for the sake of chasing an insect.

Rai giggled and stumbled into the clearing. "Butter! Butter come back!" She looked around and didn't see the pretty butterfly anymore. "Aww..."

She felt something blow on her hair really fast. She giggled thinking it was Siren or somebody. Rai turned around and her giggling stopped. Her eyes trailed up to a large lizard looking thing with sharp teeth and big round eyes....

She ran away and the creature tilted its head. When Rai went to the other side of the clearing another one appeared, casying Rai to scream in fright and back away. From all sides they were coming at her.

Close by there was a group of large rocks and Rai thought maybe she could use them to get into the limb of a tree. She was half way up when she slipped and her foot got caught in a crack.
